NOTE: The Loop is hosting the ‘Flash Mile’ this Saturday. It will be taking place as we all return from our long runs. Please be respectful of their event and do not partake in the event perks (food!) unless you are registered.

ABOUT WATER STOPS

Our water stops are coordinated to support the routes and start times listed. If you modify the routes or start times, please take water to cover yourselves in case the water is unavailable. 


NOTE: Touring the St. Edward’s route, with some modifications to avoid Manchaca. Please review the courses, as there are a few new twists and turns.

THE ROUTES

3 Miles: Pfluger to Mopac trail loop. Cross Pfluger footbridge with the gang, and then peel off towards Mopac, crossing to north side trail and back to HQ.

4 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ across Pfluger footbridge to south side trail. SS trail east towards I-35. Continue boardwalk to I-35, and water stop at fountain underneath I-35. Turn around at water stop, and retrace your steps back to HQ. Take trail and boardwalk back towards Mopac on south side. SS trail over to Pfluger footbridge, up and across to HQ. OPTION is to just run a counterclockwise First St. to Mopac trail loop, finishing at south side of Pfluger bridge.

5 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ across Pfluger footbridge to south side trail. SS trail east towards I-35. Exit trail and boardwalk at trailhead just after seafood place on your right up to Riverside. Left on Riverside up to the light and carefully cross Riverside to Alameda Dr. Take Alameda to first right hand turn, which is East Side Drive. Stay on East Side Drive as it takes a big left hand turn and continues up alongside greenbelt park on your left. East Side Drive up to water stop at East Monroe St.. Turn around at water stop, and retrace your steps back to HQ. East Side Drive around to Alameda, to and across Riverside, to trail and boardwalk back towards Mopac on south side. SS trail over to Pfluger footbridge, up and across to HQ.

6 Miles: Your map is here.  GZLs HQ across Pfluger footbridge to south side trail. SS trail east towards I-35. Exit trail and boardwalk at trailhead just after seafood place on your right up to Riverside. Left on Riverside up to the light and carefully cross Riverside to Alameda Dr. Take Alameda to first right hand turn, which is East Side Drive. Stay on East Side Drive as it takes a big left hand turn and continues up alongside greenbelt park on your left. East Side Drive up to East Live Oak. Turn around at East Live Oak, and retrace your steps back to HQ. East Side Drive around to Alameda, to and across Riverside, to trail and boardwalk back towards Mopac on south side. SS trail over to Pfluger footbridge, up and across to HQ.

Exit trail and boardwalk at trailhead just after seafood place on your right up to Riverside. Left on Riverside up to the light and carefully cross Riverside to Alameda Dr. Take Alameda to first right hand turn, which is East Side Drive. Stay on East Side Drive as it takes a big left hand turn and continues up alongside greenbelt park on your left. East Side Drive into St. Edward’s campus, to name change to University Circle. At the top of the hill, take a left through the Theater parking lot over to Theater Pass, and take a right on Theater Pass to Woodward. Right on Woodward across S. Congress to name change to Lightsey. At S. First, take a short left then immediate right onto Cardinal. Cardinal to S. 5th Street. Right on S. 5th. S. 5th all the way up to Barton Springs Road. Cross BS Road to north side of street. Left on BS road over to road that goes along Pitch and Putt course. Right on Lee Barton Rd (between Jack In the Box and the pitch and putt). Lee Barton to Pfluger footbridge and cross to GZLs HQ.

10 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ across Pfluger footbridge to south side trail. SS trail east towards I-35. Exit trail and boardwalk at trailhead just after seafood place on your right up to Riverside. Left on Riverside up to the light and carefully cross Riverside to Alameda Dr. Take Alameda to first right hand turn, which is East Side Drive. Stay on East Side Drive as it takes a big left hand turn and continues up alongside greenbelt park on your left. East Side Drive into St. Edward’s campus, to name change to University Circle. At the top of the hill, take a left through the Theater parking lot over to Theater Pass, and take a right on Theater Pass to Woodward. Right on Woodward across S. Congress to name change to Lightsey. At S. First, take a short left then immediate right onto Cardinal. Cardinal to S. 5th Street. Right on S. 5th. S. 5th up to West Mary St. (Library branch at that corner). Left on W. Mary, crossing S. Lamar to Hether St. Hether to Bluebonnet. Right on Bluebonnet, and follow it as it sweeps left (name change to Melridge Place), and hits Rabb Road. Right on Rabb/Azie Morton Drive to Barton Springs Road, to southside trail. Take trail towards Auditorium Shores, and cross LB Lake on First Street bridge, to northside trail and back to HQ.

11.5 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ across Pfluger footbridge to south side trail. SS trail east towards I-35. Exit trail and boardwalk at trailhead just after seafood place on your right up to Riverside. Left on Riverside up to the light and carefully cross Riverside to Alameda Dr. Take Alameda to first right hand turn, which is East Side Drive. Stay on East Side Drive as it takes a big left hand turn and continues up alongside greenbelt park on your left. East Side Drive into St. Edward’s campus, to name change to University Circle. At the top of the hill, take a left through the Theater parking lot over to Theater Pass, and take a right on Theater Pass to Woodward. Right on Woodward across S. Congress to name change to Lightsey. At S. First, take a short left then immediate right onto Cardinal. Cardinal to S. 5th Street. Right on S. 5th. S. 5th up to West Mary St. (Library branch at that corner). Left on W. Mary, crossing S. Lamar to Hether St. Hether to Bluebonnet. Right on Bluebonnet, and follow it as it sweeps left (name change to Melridge Place), and hits Rabb Road. Left on Rabb to name change to Rae Dell Avenue. Continue Rae Dell to hard right corner and then immediate left, ending up on Barton Skyway. Right on Barton Skyway over to Barton Hills Dr. Right on Barton Hills Drive continue to the park at Barton Springs, staying on the trail there, under Barton Springs Road, to southside trail. Take trail towards Auditorium Shores, and cross LB Lake on Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ. This measures 11.5 miles, so you completists can add your favorite half mile extra, maybe a half loop of Auditorium Shores, before crossing Pfluger bridge. Taking First St Bridge up and over to northside trail and home adds up to 12.5 miles.

Exit trail and boardwalk at trailhead just after seafood place on your right up to Riverside. Left on Riverside up to the light and carefully cross Riverside to Alameda Dr. Take Alameda to first right hand turn, which is East Side Drive. Stay on East Side Drive as it takes a big left hand turn and continues up alongside greenbelt park on your left. East Side Drive into St. Edward’s campus, to name change to University Circle. At the top of the hill, take a left through the Theater parking lot over to Theater Pass, and take a right on Theater Pass to Woodward. Right on Woodward across S. Congress to name change to Lightsey. At S. First, take a short left then immediate right onto Cardinal. Cardinal to S. 5th Street. Right on S. 5th. S. 5th up to West Mary St. (Library branch at that corner). Left on W. Mary, crossing S. Lamar to Hether St. Hether to Bluebonnet. Right on Bluebonnet, and follow it as it sweeps left (name change to Melridge Place), and hits Rabb Road. Left on Rabb to name change to Rae Dell Avenue. Continue Rae Dell to hard right corner and then immediate left, ending up on Barton Skyway. Right on Barton Skyway over to Barton Hills Dr. Right on Barton Hills Drive continue to the park at Barton Springs, staying on the trail there, under Barton Springs Road, to southside trail. Take trail towards Mopac, and go out Veterans to Lake Austin Blvd. LA Blvd out to last driveway of that first student housing complex, where you will turn around and return LA Blvd back to Mopac, to northside trail, and back to HQ.

16 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ across Pfluger footbridge to south side trail. SS trail east towards I-35. Exit trail and boardwalk at trailhead just after seafood place on your right up to Riverside. Left on Riverside up to the light and carefully cross Riverside to Alameda Dr. Take Alameda to first right hand turn, which is East Side Drive. Stay on East Side Drive as it takes a big left hand turn and continues up alongside greenbelt park on your left. East Side Drive into St. Edward’s campus, to name change to University Circle. At the top of the hill, take a left through the Theater parking lot over to Theater Pass, and take a right on Theater Pass to Woodward. Right on Woodward across S. Congress to name change to Lightsey. At S. First, take a short left then immediate right onto Cardinal. Cardinal to S. 5th Street. Right on S. 5th. S. 5th up to West Mary St. (Library branch at that corner). Left on W. Mary, crossing S. Lamar to Hether St. Hether to Bluebonnet. Right on Bluebonnet, and follow it as it sweeps left (name change to Melridge Place), and hits Rabb Road. Left on Rabb to name change to Rae Dell Avenue. Continue Rae Dell to hard right corner and then immediate left, ending up on Barton Skyway. Right on Barton Skyway over to Barton Hills Dr. Left on Barton Hills Dr, and stay right as it makes a loop, coming back to itself. Right on Barton Hills Drive this time, back up to Barton Skyway. Barton Hills Drive continue to the park at Barton Springs, staying on the trail there, under Barton Springs Road, to southside trail. Take trail towards Mopac, and go out Veterans to Lake Austin Blvd. LA Blvd out to Exposition. Turn around at Expo, and return LA Blvd back to Mopac, to northside trail, and back to HQ.

18 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ across Pfluger footbridge to south side trail. SS trail east towards I-35. Exit trail and boardwalk at trailhead just after seafood place on your right up to Riverside. Left on Riverside up to the light and carefully cross Riverside to Alameda Dr. Take Alameda to first right hand turn, which is East Side Drive. Stay on East Side Drive as it takes a big left hand turn and continues up alongside greenbelt park on your left. East Side Drive into St. Edward’s campus, to name change to University Circle. At the top of the hill, take a left through the Theater parking lot over to Theater Pass, and take a right on Theater Pass to Woodward. Right on Woodward across S. Congress to name change to Lightsey. At S. First, take a short left then immediate right onto Cardinal. Cardinal to S. 5th Street. Right on S. 5th. S. 5th up to West Mary St. (Library branch at that corner). Left on W. Mary, crossing S. Lamar to Hether St. Hether to Bluebonnet. Right on Bluebonnet, and follow it as it sweeps left (name change to Melridge Place), and hits Rabb Road. Left on Rabb to name change to Rae Dell Avenue. Continue Rae Dell to hard right corner and then immediate left, ending up on Barton Skyway. Right on Barton Skyway over to Barton Hills Dr. Left on Barton Hills Dr, and stay right as it makes a loop, coming back to itself. Right on Barton Hills Drive this time, back up to Barton Skyway. Barton Hills Drive continue to the park at Barton Springs, staying on the trail there, under Barton Springs Road, to southside trail. Take trail towards Mopac, and go out Veterans to Lake Austin Blvd. LA Blvd out to Enfield, right on Enfield back to Exposition, and Expo south to LA Blvd. LA Blvd back to Mopac, to northside trail, and back to HQ. This route measures a little long, depending on how you negotiate crossing Riverside, so if your GPS tells you you’ve hit 18 miles on the northside trail heading home, feel free to chill out and jog in from that beep.


THE MARATHONS

Feb 9 (Galveston): Taper madness week 2. 12-16 miles, last 6 @ MGP. Start relaxed, and then for last 6 miles, lock into actual Marathon Goal Pace. Check with Coach or the pace calculator on the website to determine MGP.

Feb 16 (Austin): Taper madness begins. 14-18 miles, last 8 @ MGP. Start relaxed, and then for last 8 miles, lock into actual Marathon Goal Pace. Check with Coach or the pace calculator on the website to determine MGP.

March 1 (Cowtown, Napa): 12-14 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week.

April 20 (Boston): 16-18 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 18 mile max.

April 26 (Eugene/London/Big Sur): 10-12 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week.

May 3 (Toronto): 10-14 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 14 mile max.

May 17 (Cleveland): 10-14 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 14 mile max.

May 24 (Mountains to Beach): 9-12 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 12 mile max.


BEGINNER GAZELLES, HALF MARATHONERS, and EVERYBODY ELSE:

Beginners: 3-7 miles. Choose a distance amongst your pace pals, up to that 7 mile max.

Everybody Else: 7-12 miles. If you went 12 last week, maybe cut back to 7-10 this week. For anything else, add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile mark.

Feb 16 (Austin Half): Taper Madness begins. 8-13 miles, with last 5 @ HMGP. Start relaxed, and then for last 5 miles, lock into actual Half Marathon Goal Pace. Check with Coach or the pace calculator on the website to determine MGP.

Mar 1 (Napa Half, Publix Half): 5-8 miles. Recovery Run.

Mar 15 (NYC Half): 5-8 miles. Recovery Run.

April 5 (Cap 10K): 5-8 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 8 mile max.

April 19 (Vienna): 5-8 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 8 mile max.

April 26 (Eugene Half): 6-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 10 mile max.

May 3 (Toronto Half): 5-8 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 8 mile max.

2. Cumberland Road @ S. 5th Street (NW corner at grass park around S Austin Tennis Center)
