THE ROUTES
2.5 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress down to Riverside. Riverside to Auditorium Shores, over to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ. For 3 miles full, feel free to add a victory lap around the park at GZLs HQ.
4 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress down to W. Mary St. Right on Mary over to S. First. Right on S. First back to Riverside. Riverside over to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ.
5 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress down to Oltorf. Right on Oltorf over to S. First. Right on S. First back to Southside trail. SS Trail over to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ.
7 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress down to Lightsey (this is where you diverge from 8 milers, by the way). Right on Lightsey over to S. First. Right on S. First back to and across on the First St. bridge to northside trail. Northside trail back to GZLs HQ.
8 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress all the way to access road at Ben White Blvd (71). Right on access road sidewalk over to S. First. Right on S. First back to and across on the First St. bridge to northside trail. Northside trail to stoplight at Seaholm, where you will cross to the north side of Cesar Chavez and the bike path. Bike path to GZLs HQ.
10.4 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress all the way to access road at Ben White Blvd (71). Right on access road sidewalk over to S. First. Right on S. First back to and across on the First St. bridge to northside trail. Northside trail to stoplight at Seaholm, where you will cross to the north side of Cesar Chavez and the bike path. Follow the bike path as it goes along and then under Cesar Chavez, exiting onto Veterans around the track at Austin High School to Mopac. Turn around there, and return to GZLs HQ via northside trail for variety.
12 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress all the way to access road at Ben White Blvd (71). Right on access road sidewalk over to S. First. Right on S. First back to and across on the First St. bridge to northside trail. Northside trail to stoplight at Seaholm, where you will cross to the north side of Cesar Chavez and the bike path. Follow the bike path as it goes along and then under Cesar Chavez, exiting onto Veterans around the track at Austin High School. Veterans along and back up to Lake Austin Blvd. Left on LAB over to Exposition. Turn around at Exposition, and retrace your steps back to HQ (LAB to Veterans to Mopac, then Veterans to bike path along Cesar Chavez and back to GZLs HQ.
14.5 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress all the way to access road at Ben White Blvd (71). Right on access road sidewalk over to S. First. Right on S. First back to and across on the First St. bridge to northside trail. Northside trail to stoplight at Seaholm, where you will cross to the north side of Cesar Chavez and the bike path. Follow the bike path as it goes along and then under Cesar Chavez, exiting onto Veterans around the track at Austin High School. Veterans along and back up to Lake Austin Blvd. Left on LAB over to Enfield. Hard right on Enfield, and then Enfield over to 15th (name change), to West Avenue (stoplight at top of hill after crossing over Lamar). Right on West Avenue down to 3rd St., then left over to Seaholm, and a right on Seaholm to Electric Blvd and back to GZLs HQ.
16 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress all the way to access road at Ben White Blvd (71). Right on access road sidewalk over to S. First. Right on S. First back to and across on the First St. bridge to northside trail. Northside trail to stoplight at Seaholm, where you will cross to the north side of Cesar Chavez and the bike path. Follow the bike path as it goes along and then under Cesar Chavez, exiting onto Veterans around the track at Austin High School. Veterans along and back up to Lake Austin Blvd. Left on LAB over to Enfield. Hard right on Enfield, and then Enfield over to 15th (name change), over to San Jacinto. Right on San Jacinto through up to 11th Street. Right on 11th over to Congress. Left on Congress down to Northside trail. Northside trail to stoplight at Seaholm, where you will cross to the north side of Cesar Chavez and the bike path. Bike path to GZLs HQ.
18 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress all the way to access road at Ben White Blvd (71). Right on access road sidewalk over to S. First. Right on S. First back to and across on the First St. bridge to northside trail. Northside trail to stoplight at Seaholm, where you will cross to the north side of Cesar Chavez and the bike path. Follow the bike path as it goes along and then under Cesar Chavez, exiting onto Veterans around the track at Austin High School. Veterans along and back up to Lake Austin Blvd. Left on LAB over to Enfield. Hard right on Enfield, and then Enfield over to 15th (name change), to Guadalupe. Left on Guadalupe up to Dean Keaton. Right on Dean Keaton over to San Jacinto. Right on San Jacinto through UT campus to veer right at oil derrick. Stay on San Jacinto up to 11th Street. Right on 11th over to Congress. Left on Congress down to Northside trail. Northside trail back to GZLs HQ.
20 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress all the way to access road at Ben White Blvd (71). Right on access road sidewalk over to S. First. Right on S. First back to and across on the First St. bridge to northside trail. Northside trail to stoplight at Seaholm, where you will cross to the north side of Cesar Chavez and the bike path. Follow the bike path as it goes along and then under Cesar Chavez, exiting onto Veterans around the track at Austin High School. Veterans along and back up to Lake Austin Blvd. Left on LAB over to Enfield. Hard right on Enfield, and then Enfield over to 15th (name change), to Guadalupe. Left on Guadalupe up to Dean Keaton. Right on Dean Keaton over to San Jacinto. You will diverge from your 18 mile friends here. Go Left on San Jacinto up to Duval, and veer right onto Duval. Duval up to 38th St. Turn around at 38th, and return Duval to San Jacinto to water stop at UT campus. Continue San Jacinto through UT campus to veer right at oil derrick. Stay on San Jacinto up to 11th Street. Right on 11th over to Congress. Left on Congress and cross over LB Lake on Congress bridge to southside trail. Southside trail over to Pfluger footbridge, and back across Pfluger bridge to GZLs HQ.
THE MARATHONS
Dec 8th (CIM, BCS, San Antonio, Honolulu): Run smart, run with joy, and for you Honolulu people, Aloha!
Dec 15th (Dallas White Rock): Taper madness week 3. 8-12 miles, with last 4 @ MGP. Use honest MGP, but start easy, and finish at race pace. Your hard work is done. Wrap yourselves in bubble wrap for protection at this point.
Jan 12th 2020 (Disney Dopey Challenge): 12-14 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week.
Jan 18th 2020 (REVEL Hawaii, Houston): 18-20 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 20 mile max.
Feb 9th 2020 (Galveston): 12-14 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week.
Feb 16th 2020 (Austin): 14-18 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 18 mile max. Start time 5:45am.
March 1, 2020 (Cowtown, Napa): 12-16 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 16 mile max. Start time 5:45am.
BEGINNER GAZELLES, HALF MARATHONERS, and EVERYBODY ELSE:
Beginner Gazelles! This week, 3-7 miles. Choose a distance amongst your pace pals, up to that 7 mile max. Start time 5:45am.
Everybody Else (GZLs peeps): 7-12 miles. If you went 12 last week, maybe cut back to 7-10 this week. For anything else, add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile mark. Start time 5:45am.
Dec 7th (St. Jude’s Half, San Antonio Half): Run smart, run with joy!
