Saturday Long Run

START TIMES:

10-24 milers leaving from Gazelles HQ at 6:00am.

5-8 milers go from Gazelles HQ 6:30am.

Beginners go from Gazelles HQ 7:00am.

Physical therapists in the house Saturday. Take advantage of this free service if you have a nagging pain or tightness in your legs.

THE MAPS

If you start earlier (or later) than your group's call time, please check with your pace pals to make sure your team is all starting at the same time. As always, if you start way before the scheduled start times, please take water to cover yourselves for that first water stop (or two) in case you're ahead of the logistical team. We're cruising out and back through UT to Duval and points beyond.

3 Miles: Your map is here. This is a clockwise Pfluger footbridge to Mopac trail loop.

4 Miles: Your map is here. This is a clockwise First St. bridge to Mopac trail loop.

5 Miles: Your map is here. This is a clockwise Congress bridge to Mopac trail loop.

6 Miles: Your map is here. Leave HQ towards Trader Joe's. Cross on 2nd or 3rd Street bridge to Congress, then left (north) on Congress up to 11th. Right on 11th, left on San Jacinto, then right on 12th over to Trinity. Left on Trinity up to 15th. Left on 15th, and take 15th all the way across town to Mopac. Go under Mopac, then take a left on the access road there, which is Winsted. Winsted down to Lake Austin Blvd. Right on LA Blvd one short block to Veterans. Carefully cross LA Blvd and take Veterans back towards Mopac. Stay on Veterans around the Austin High track, and rejoin the trail at the end of the track. Northside trail from there back to GZLs HQ. 

7.5 Miles: Your map is here. This is basically the Cap 10K course. Leave HQ towards Trader Joe's. Cross on 2nd or 3rd Street bridge to Congress, then left (north) on Congress up to 11th. Right on 11th, left on San Jacinto, then right on 12th over to Trinity. Left on Trinity up to 15th. Left on 15th, and take 15th all the way across town to Mopac. Go under Mopac, then take a left on the access road there, which is Winsted. Winsted down to Lake Austin Blvd. Right on LA Blvd one short block to Veterans. Carefully cross LA Blvd and take Veterans back towards Mopac. Stay on Veterans around the Austin High track, and rejoin the trail at the end of the track. Trail all the way to First St. bridge. Cross LB Lake on First St. bridge to Auditorium Shores, then return on SS trail to Pfluger footbridge and GZLs HQ. 

8 Miles: Your map is here. This is much of the Cap 10K course. Leave HQ towards Trader Joe's. Cross on 2nd or 3rd Street bridge to Congress, then left (north) on Congress up to 11th. Right on 11th, left on San Jacinto, then right on 12th over to Trinity. Left on Trinity up to 15th. Left on 15th, and take 15th all the way across town to Mopac. Continue Enfield/15th all the way to Lake Austin Blvd (Mozart's). Left on LA Blvd, back to Mopac, northside trail, and GZLs HQ. 

10 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to Congress. Left on Congress up to 11th. Right on 11th up to San Jacinto. Left on San Jacinto to and through UT campus. San Jacinto to Duval, and veer right on Duval. Duval up to 38th Street. Left on 38th and take 38th across to its merge with 35th. 35th up and over to Exposition. Left on Expo all the way down to LA Blvd. Left onto LA Blvd and back to Mopac. Northside trail back to GZLs HQ.

12 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to Congress. Left on Congress up to 11th. Right on 11th up to San Jacinto. Left on San Jacinto to and through UT campus. San Jacinto to Duval, and veer right on Duval. Duval up to 45th Street. Left on 45th and 45th across to Bull Creek. Left on Bull Creek down to Jackson. Right on Jackson and down to 35th. Right on 35th up and over to Exposition. Left on Expo all the way down to LA Blvd. Left onto LA Blvd and back to Mopac to southside trail. Southside trail to Pfluger footbridge and back over to GZLs HQ.

Left on 51st over to Guadalupe (UT Intramural fields), and right on Guadalupe up to North Loop. Left on North Loop all the way over to and across Burnet, and merge right onto Hancock. Hancock over to Bull Creek. Left on Bull Creek down to Jackson. Right on Jackson and down to 35th. Right on 35th up and over to Exposition. Left on Expo down to Enfield. Right on Enfield out to LA Blvd. Hard left onto LA Blvd and back to Mopac. Northside trail back to GZLs HQ.

Hancock over to Shoal Creek. Right on Shoal Creek up to and across 2222/Northland, up to White Rock. Turn around there at the water stop, and return Shoal Creek back down to Hancock. Right on Hancock over to Bull Creek. Left on Bull Creek down to Jackson. Right on Jackson and down to 35th. Right on 35th up and over to Exposition. Left on Expo down to Enfield. THE MARATHONS

April 16th (Boston): Taper Madness, the Last. 12-14 miles, with last 6-8 @ MGP. Start relaxed, finish at MGP.  Start time 6:00am.

April 22nd (London): Taper Madness continues. 12-16 miles, with last 6 @ MGP. Start relaxed, finish at MGP.  Start time 6:00am.

April 29th (Eugene): Taper Madness begins. 14-18 miles, with last 8 @ MGP. Start relaxed, finish at MGP.  Start time 6:00am.

May 6th (Colorado, Vancouver): 20-24 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 24 mile max.  Start time 6:00am.

May 27th (M2B, Ottawa): 10-14 mile recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 6:00am.

June 3rd (San Diego): 16-20 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 20 mile max.  Start time 6:00am.

June 10th (Light At The End Of The Tunnel): 10-14 mile recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 6:00am.

June 16th (Grandma's): 14-18 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 18 mile max.  Start time 6:00am.

BEGINNER GAZELLES, HALF MARATHONERS, and EVERYBODY ELSE:

Beginner Gazelles!  This week, 3-7 miles. Choose a distance amongst your pace pals, up to that 7 mile max. Start time 7:00am.

Everybody Else (GZLs peeps): 7-12 miles. If you went 12 last week, maybe cut back to 7-10 this week. For anything else, add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile mark. Start time 6:00am.

April 4th (Cap 10K): On Sunday, run smart, run with joy. Forgive in advance those who clog the roads ahead of you in the crowd, for they do not know how to properly locate themselves. On Saturday, come on out at 7:00am for a super relaxed 20-30 minutes on the trail, followed by some striders on the grass.

April 29th (Eugene Half): Taper Madness begins. 8-13 miles, with last 5 @ HMGP. Start relaxed, finish at HMGP.  Start time 6:00am.
