THE MAP

Water stations are normal this week. You may want to carry your own water still, if you are starting way before or after the 5:45 start window that water is usually out there, or if you are ad libbing on route variations.

THE  ROUTES

4 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Take bike path along north side of Cesar Chavez out to dog pound loop, and cross under Cesar Chavez and go around Austin High School track on Veterans. Veterans up to LA Blvd. Left on LA Blvd over to Exposition. Turn around there, at the palatial HEB, and retrace your steps home. LA Blvd to Veterans, to Mopac, Veterans around to bike path north of Cesar Chavez. Then back to HQ.

6 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Take bike path along north side of Cesar Chavez out to dog pound loop, and cross under Cesar Chavez and go around Austin High School track on Veterans. Veterans up to LA Blvd. Left on LA Blvd over to Exposition. RIGHT on Exposition up to Enfield. RIGHT on Enfield over to and under Mopac, to Hartford Road. Veer RIGHT onto Hartford, down to Palma Plaza. LEFT on Palma Plaza, and the veer RIGHT onto W. 14th Street. 14th to West Lynn. RIGHT on West Lynn for just a short bit, to W. 13th. LEFT on W 13th over to a T into Windsor Road/Blanco Street. RIGHT on Windsor/Blanco down to W. 12th. LEFT on W. 12th and across and over to Guadalupe. [NOTE: There is a water stop just a couple of blocks north on Guadalupe, in the parking lot just south of the Christian Science church. It’s not a big detour to get a refreshing beverage there. You would then go back down Guadalupe and follow this route home] RIGHT on Guadalupe, down to 3rd Street, RIGHT on 3rd across to Seaholm and back to HQ.

Veterans up to LA Blvd. Left on LA Blvd over to Enfield. Right on Enfield over to and under Mopac, to Hartford Road. Veer RIGHT onto Hartford, down to Palma Plaza. LEFT on Palma Plaza, and the veer RIGHT onto W. 14th Street. 14th to West Lynn. RIGHT on West Lynn for just a short bit, to W. 13th. LEFT on W 13th over to a T into Windsor Road/Blanco Street. RIGHT on Windsor/Blanco down to W. 12th. LEFT on W. 12th and across and over to Guadalupe. LEFT on Guadalupe, up to the water stop in the parking lot on your right between 13th and 14th. Take W. 13th over to Lavaca (towards the Capitol). RIGHT on Lavaca down to 11th. LEFT on 11th to Congress. RIGHT on Congress down to 3rd Street, RIGHT on 3rd across to Seaholm and back to HQ.

LEFT on Congress down to 3rd Street, RIGHT on 3rd across to Seaholm and back to HQ.

Continue south on San Jacinto through campus. Veer right at talking oil derrick, and take San Jacinto up up past the Capitol, to 11th. RIGHT on 11th to Congress. LEFT on Congress down to 3rd Street, RIGHT on 3rd across to Seaholm and back to HQ.

RACE SPECIFIC WORKOUTS

·      Feb 18th, 2024 (Austin Full): Taper madness begins. 14-18 miles, with last 8-10 at honest MGP. Check with Coach for your MGP if you do not already have it in mind. Start easy, and then cruise home with MGP for last 8-10 miles.

·      March 3rd, 2024 (Tokyo, Napa): 12-14 mile recovery long run. Back off from last week.

·      March 17th, 2024 (LA): 12-14 mile recovery long run. Back off from last week.

·      April 6-7th, 2024 (Mt. Charleston, Paris): 14-18 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 18 mile max.

·      April 15th, 2024 (Boston): 10-14 mile recovery long run. Back off from last week.

·      April 21st, 2024 (London): 12-16 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 16 mile max.

·      April 28th, 2024 (Eugene, Big Sur): 10-12 mile recovery long run. Back off from last week.
