THE ROUTES

3 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Head to bike path on north side of Cesar Chavez towards Mopac. Veterans around AHS track and up to LA Blvd. Turn around there, and return to HQ, retracing your steps home. Veterans around AHS track, to bike path along Cesar Chavez and to GZLs HQ. NOTE: Option is to run a standard Mopac to Pfluger bridge trail loop, starting with the bike path along Cesar Chavez.

4 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Head to bike path on north side of Cesar Chavez towards Mopac. Veterans around AHS track and up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd out to Exposition. Turn around there, and return to HQ, retracing your steps home. LA Blvd back to Mopac, to Veterans around AHS track, to bike path along Cesar Chavez and to GZLs HQ. NOTE: Option is to run a standard Mopac to First Street bridge trail loop, starting with the bike path along Cesar Chavez.

5 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Head to bike path on north side of Cesar Chavez towards Mopac. Veterans around AHS track and up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd out to Exposition. Right up Exposition to Enfield. Turn around at Enfield, and retrace your steps home.  Exposition back to LA Blvd back to Mopac, to Veterans around AHS track, to bike path along Cesar Chavez and to GZLs HQ. NOTE: Option is to run a Mopac to Congress bridge trail loop after a bike path start.

6 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Head to bike path on north side of Cesar Chavez towards Mopac. Veterans around AHS track and up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd out to Enfield (Mozart's). Turn around at Enfield, and retrace your steps home.  LA Blvd back to Mopac, to Veterans around AHS track, to bike path along Cesar Chavez and to GZLs HQ. 

7 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Head to bike path on north side of Cesar Chavez towards Mopac. Veterans around AHS track and up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd out to Enfield (Mozart's). Continue Scenic to Cherry. Wind around to Rockmoor. Left on Rockmoor up to Kennelwood, the first street on your left on Rockmoor. Turn around at Kennelwood, and retrace your steps back to HQ. Rockmoor back to Cherry. Right on Cherry back to name change to Lake Austin Blvd at Mozart’s. LA Blvd back to Mopac, to Veterans and bike path back to HQ.

8 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Head to bike path on north side of Cesar Chavez towards Mopac. Veterans around AHS track and up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd out to Enfield (Mozart's). Continue Scenic to Cherry. Wind around to Rockmoor. Left on Rockmoor up to Stevenson. Left on Stevenson over to Scenic. Scenic down along river to house on your right with giant vacant lot next to it. Turn around at the giant vacant lot (or where your watch says 4 miles), and retrace your steps back to HQ. Scenic up up past the expensive houses to Stevenson. Left on Stevenson over to Rockmoor. Right on Rockmoor back to Cherry. Right on Cherry back to name change to Lake Austin Blvd at Mozart’s. LA Blvd back to Mopac, to Veterans and bike path back to HQ.

10 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Head to bike path on north side of Cesar Chavez towards Mopac. Veterans around AHS track and up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd out to Enfield (Mozart's). Continue Scenic to Cherry. Wind around to Rockmoor. Left on Rockmoor up to Stevenson. Left on Stevenson over to Scenic. Scenic down along river to hard right corner, which takes you back to Scenic. Left on Scenic at stop sign. Scenic around to Pecos. Left on Pecos up to 35th. Turn around at 35th Street, and retrace your steps back to HQ, down Pecos back to Scenic. Right on Scenic and around to hard left turn at bottom of Scenic at water’s edge. Then, Scenic up up past the expensive houses to Stevenson. Left on Stevenson over to Rockmoor. Right on Rockmoor back to Cherry. Right on Cherry back to name change to Lake Austin Blvd at Mozart’s. LA Blvd back to Mopac, to Veterans and bike path back to HQ.

12.3 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Head to bike path on north side of Cesar Chavez towards Mopac. Veterans around AHS track and up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd out to Enfield (Mozart's). Continue Scenic to Cherry. Wind around to Rockmoor. Left on Rockmoor up to Stevenson. Left on Stevenson over to Scenic. Scenic down along river to hard right corner, which takes you back to Scenic. Left on Scenic at stop sign. Scenic around to Pecos. Left on Pecos up to 35th. Left on 35th over to Mt. Bonnell Road. Right on Mt. Bonnell Road up, up, up to parking lot and base of steps. Turn around at the base of the steps, and retrace your steps back to HQ, down Mt. Bonnell Rd. to 35th to Pecos. RIGHT on Pecos down to Scenic. Right on Scenic and around to hard left turn at bottom of Scenic at water’s edge. Then, Scenic up up past the expensive houses to Stevenson. Left on Stevenson over to Rockmoor. Right on Rockmoor back to Cherry. Right on Cherry back to name change to Lake Austin Blvd at Mozart’s. LA Blvd back to Mopac, to Veterans and bike path back to HQ.

Left on Scenic at stop sign. Scenic around to Pecos. Left on Pecos up to 35th. Left on 35th over to Mt. Bonnell Road. Right on Mt. Bonnell Road up, up, up to parking lot and base of steps. Continue on Mt. Bonnell Road to next right hand street, which is Mt. Bonnell Drive. Right on MBDrive over and across Balcones to Edgemont Drive. Left on Edgemont to last hard left hand corner. Left on Glen Rose Drive up to first left hand street, which is Madrona. Left on Madrona back to Edgemont. From there, take Edgemont to MB Drive back to Mt. Bonnell Road, back to foot of steps, and down Mt. Bonnell Rd. to 35th to Pecos. RIGHT on Pecos down to Scenic. Right on Scenic and around to hard left turn at bottom of Scenic at water’s edge. Then, Scenic up up past the expensive houses to Stevenson. Left on Stevenson over to Rockmoor. Right on Rockmoor back to Cherry. Right on Cherry back to name change to Lake Austin Blvd at Mozart’s. LA Blvd back to Mopac, to Veterans and bike path back to HQ.

16 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Head to bike path on north side of Cesar Chavez towards Mopac. Veterans around AHS track and up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd out to Enfield (Mozart's). Continue Scenic to Cherry. Wind around to Rockmoor. Left on Rockmoor up to Stevenson. Left on Stevenson over to Scenic. Scenic down along river to hard right corner, which takes you back to Scenic. Left on Scenic at stop sign. Scenic around to Pecos. Left on Pecos up to 35th. Left on 35th over to Mt. Bonnell Road. Right on Mt. Bonnell Road up, up, up to parking lot and base of steps. Continue on Mt. Bonnell Road to next right hand street, which is Mt. Bonnell Drive. Right on MBDrive over and across Balcones to Edgemont Drive. Left on Edgemont to last hard left hand corner. Then, Scenic up up past the expensive houses to Stevenson. Left on Stevenson over to Rockmoor. Right on Rockmoor back to Cherry. Right on Cherry back to name change to Lake Austin Blvd at Mozart’s. LA Blvd back to Mopac, then cross to southside trail, and trail over to First Street bridge, up and over LB Lake to northside trail and back to HQ.

18 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Head to bike path on north side of Cesar Chavez towards Mopac. Veterans around AHS track and up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd out to Enfield (Mozart's). Continue Scenic to Cherry. Wind around to Rockmoor. Left on Rockmoor up to Stevenson. Left on Stevenson over to Scenic. Scenic down along river to hard right corner, which takes you back to Scenic. Left on Scenic at stop sign. Scenic around to Pecos. Left on Pecos up to 35th. Left on 35th over to Mt. Bonnell Road. Right on Mt. Bonnell Road up, up, up to parking lot and base of steps. Continue on Mt. Bonnell Road to next right hand street, which is Mt. Bonnell Drive. Right on MBDrive over and across Balcones to Edgemont Drive. Left on Edgemont to last hard left hand corner. Left on Glen Rose Drive up to Balcones. Right on Balcones up to Hancock. Right on Hancock over to Bull Creek. Right on Bull Creek down to Jackson. Right on Jackson to 35th. Right on 35th over to Pecos. LEFT on Pecos down to Scenic. Right on Scenic and around to hard left turn at bottom of Scenic at water’s edge. Then, Scenic up up past the expensive houses to Stevenson. Left on Stevenson over to Rockmoor. Right on Rockmoor back to Cherry. Right on Cherry back to name change to Lake Austin Blvd at Mozart’s. LA Blvd back to Mopac, then cross to southside trail, and trail over to Congress bridge, up and over LB Lake to northside trail and back to HQ.

RACE SPECIFIC DISTANCES

If you aren’t currently training for a race, keep your fitness by alternating a longer long run and a recovery long run each weekend. (Ex: Alternate a 10-12 mile run with an 8-10 mile run).

  • April 18 (Boston): Taper Madness week 3. 8-12 Miles, with last 4 @ MGP. Even for you guys, please use honest MGP and not crazy fast for your finishing pace. Start nice and easy.

  • April 23-24 (Ironman Texas, Brooklyn, and Big Sur): Taper Madness week 2. 12-16 Miles, with last 6 @ MGP. Use honest MGP and not crazy fast for your finishing pace. Start nice and easy.

  • April 23 (Nashville Half Marathon): Taper Madness week 2. 6-10 Miles, with last 4 @ HMGP. Try and use honest HMGP and not crazy fast for your finishing pace. Start nice and easy.

  • May 1 (Eugene, Providence, Toronto): Taper Madness begins. 14-18 Miles, with last 8-10 @ MGP. Try and use honest MGP and not crazy fast for your finishing pace. Start nice and easy.

  • May 21 (Brooklyn Half Marathon): 10-12 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile max.

  • May 29 (Mtns to Beach, Vermont): 12-14 mile recovery long run. Back off from last week.

  • June 12 (Tunnel Marathon): 12-14 mile recovery long run. Back off from last week.

  • July 24 (San Francisco Marathon): 10-12 mile recovery long run. Back off from last week.
