Start time is 5:45am. If you start way before or after the 5:45am start time, note that you may be ahead of or out after the water team has done their work.

Water stations are normal this week. You may want to carry your own water still, if you are starting way before or after the 5:45 start window that water is usually out there, or if you are ad libbing on route variations.

THE ROUTES

2.6 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress down to Barton Springs Road. Right on BS Road over to dog supply place and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ. For 3 miles full, feel free to add a victory lap around the park at GZLs HQ.

4.4 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress down to W. Mary St. Right on W. Mary over to S. Fifth. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Cross Barton Springs Road, and continue past the arts center to the trail that skirts the new hill at the park there, to Riverside. Cross Riverside to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ.

5.4 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress down to Oltorf. Right on Oltorf over to S. Fifth. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Left on BS Road over to dog supply place and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ.

5.9 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress down to Cumberland. Right on Cumberland over to S. Fifth. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Left on BS Road over to dog supply place and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ. [NOTE: You will go about 4 miles to the water stop]

Right on access road sidewalk over to S. First. Right on S. First back up to Cardinal. Left on Cardinal over to S. Fifth St. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Left on BS Road over to dog supply place and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ.

Right on access road sidewalk over to S. First. Right on S. First back up to Cardinal. Left on Cardinal over to S. Fifth St. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Left on BS Road over to dog supply place and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to southside trail, and head towards Mopac. Cross to northside trail and return to HQ.

12 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress all the way to access road at Ben White Blvd (71). Right on access road sidewalk over to S. First. Right on S. First back up to Cardinal. Left on Cardinal over to S. Fifth St. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Left on BS Road over to dog supply place and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to southside trail, and head towards Mopac. Veterans up to Lake Austin Blvd, and out towards Mozart’s. LA Blvd out to Experimental UT Station on your left, which is the first set of buildings on your left after Exposition. Turn around there, and return LA Blvd, back to Mopac, to northside trail and to HQ.

14 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress all the way to access road at Ben White Blvd (71). Right on access road sidewalk over to S. First. Right on S. First back up to Cardinal. Left on Cardinal over to S. Fifth St. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Left on BS Road over to dog supply place and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to southside trail, and head towards Mopac. Veterans up to Lake Austin Blvd, and out towards Mozart’s. LA Blvd out to Enfield, where you will take a hard right on Enfield back to Exposition. Right on Exposition down to LA Blvd, back to Mopac, to northside trail and to HQ.

16 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress all the way to access road at Ben White Blvd (71). Right on access road sidewalk over to S. First. Right on S. First back up to Cardinal. Left on Cardinal over to S. Fifth St. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Left on BS Road over to dog supply place and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to southside trail, and head towards Mopac. Veterans up to Lake Austin Blvd, and out towards Mozart’s. LA Blvd out to Enfield, where you will take a hard right on Enfield back to Exposition. Cross Expo on Enfield, under Mopac, to Hartford Road. Veer RIGHT onto Hartford, down to Palma Plaza. LEFT on Palma Plaza, and the veer RIGHT onto W. 14th Street. 14th to West Lynn. RIGHT on West Lynn for just a short bit, to W. 13th. LEFT on W 13th over to a T into Windsor Road/Blanco Street. RIGHT on Windsor/Blanco down to W. 12th. LEFT on W. 12th and across and up to Guadalupe. LEFT on Guadalupe up to 15th Street. RIGHT on W. 15th over to San Jacinto. RIGHT on San Jacinto up to 11th. RIGHT on 11th over to Congress, down to 3rd Street. RIGHT on 3rd over to and across to Seaholm, to Electric Avenue, and HQ.

18 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress all the way to access road at Ben White Blvd (71). Right on access road sidewalk over to S. First. Right on S. First back up to Cardinal. Left on Cardinal over to S. Fifth St. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Left on BS Road over to dog supply place and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to southside trail, and head towards Mopac. Veterans up to Lake Austin Blvd, and out towards Mozart’s. LA Blvd out to Enfield, where you will take a hard right on Enfield back to Exposition. Cross Expo on Enfield, under Mopac, to Hartford Road. Veer RIGHT onto Hartford, down to Palma Plaza. LEFT on Palma Plaza, and the veer RIGHT onto W. 14th Street. 14th to West Lynn. LEFT on W. 12th and across and up to Guadalupe. LEFT on Guadalupe all the way along UT up to Dean Keaton Street. RIGHT on Dean Keaton over to San Jacinto. RIGHT on San Jacinto into UT campus, veering right at the talking oil derrick to continue San Jacinto up along State Capitol and buildings to 11th. RIGHT on 11th over to Congress, down to 3rd Street. RIGHT on 3rd over to and across to Seaholm, to Electric Avenue, and HQ.

RACE SPECIFIC WORKOUTS

HERE ARE SUGGESTED LONG RUN WORKOUTS FOR RACES THAT ARE IN THE FUTURE. IF YOU AREN’T RACING ANY TIME SOON, KEEP YOUR FITNESS BY ALTERNATING A LONGER LONG RUN AND A RECOVERY LONG RUN ON SUCCESSIVE WEEKENDS, DEPENDING ON YOUR CURRENT TRAINING LEVELS. (Ex: Alternate a 10-12 mile run with an 8-10 mile run).

·      Dec 11th (Decker Half): Run smart, run with joy! Saturday, come out at 7:30am for an easy 20-30 minutes on the trail and some striders. But, save your big efforts for race Sunday.  

·      Jan 15th, 2023 (Houston Half): 5-8 mile recovery long run. Back off from last week.

·      Jan 15th, 2023 (Houston Full): 12-14 mile recovery long run. Back off from last week.

·      Jan 22nd, 2023 (3M Half): 10-12 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile max.

·      Feb 19th, 2023 (Austin Half): 8-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 10 mile max.

·      Feb 19th, 2023 (Austin Full): 14-18 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 18 mile max.

1.     Sidewalk on west side of S. Congress just south of Great Outdoors Nursery. Across from St. Edwards, just past Cumberland Road.
