START TIMES

Start time is 5:45am. Gilbert will be giving a blessing and pep talk, so don’t miss it! Be mindful of your post-run routine so you don’t block residents at HQ area after your run. If you start way before or after the 5:45am start time, note that you may be ahead of or out after the water team has done their work.

THE MAP

Water stations are normal this week. Hand sanitizer will be affixed to the water barrels to do a quick clean of your water button pushing hands. Feel free to refill your own water bottles as needed. You may want to carry your own water still, depending on any of your own ad libbing on route variations.

THE ROUTES

3 Miles: Your map is here. Pfluger footbridge to Mopac trail loop.

4 Miles: Your map is here. First St. bridge to Mopac Trail Loop.

5 Miles: Your map is here. Congress to Mopac trail loop.

7 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ to northside trail, and go out to Congress bridge. Go up and across LB Lake on Congress bridge. Head west on the southside trail and after crossing the wooden Barton Springs bridge, take a left to go towards Barton Springs pool, under Barton Springs Road.  Follow the railroad tracks to the pool parking lot. Wind through the parking lot and take a left on Columbus around (this is the mile repeat course) and out to where it crosses under Mopac and turns into Rollingwood Drive.  Take Rollingwood Drive to the water stop at Rollingwood Park. Turn around at the water stop, and return Rollingwood to frontage road.  Take a left along the frontage road briefly until you cross under Mopac and take a left on the trail that parallels Mopac and pops out down at Stratford Drive.  Cross Stratford to get back to the trail and cross over to the north side.  Stay on northside trail back to GZL HQ.

8 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ to northside trail, and go out to Congress bridge. Go up and across LB Lake on Congress bridge. Head west on the southside trail and after crossing the wooden Barton Springs bridge, take a left to go towards Barton Springs pool, under Barton Springs Road.  Follow the railroad tracks to the pool parking lot. Wind through the parking lot and take a left on Columbus around (this is the mile repeat course) and out to where it crosses under Mopac and turns into Rollingwood Drive.  Take Rollingwood Drive to North Peak Road, which is the second street after the water stop that completely cuts through Rollingwood. Turn around at North Peak Road, and return Rollingwood to the water stop. After the water stop, continue Rollingwood to frontage road.  Take a left along the frontage road briefly until you cross under Mopac and take a left on the trail that parallels Mopac and pops out down at Stratford Drive. Cross Stratford to get back to the trail and cross over to the north side.  Stay on northside trail back to GZL HQ.

Rollingwood Loop Course (Please review, this is partially a new course for you)

10 Miles: Your map is here. Leave HQ, to northside trail. Go towards Congress bridge. Go under Congress bridge and climb up to bridge on stairs behind hotel. Cross LBLake on Congress bridge to southside trail. Southside trail back towards Mopac. At the footbridge that crosses over Barton Creek, go over the creek, and then go LEFT towards Barton Springs Road. Go UNDER Barton Springs Road and follow trail along railroad tracks to the pool area. Go through the pool parking lot and take a right at the end of the parking lot up to the first street (this is the mile repeat course). Left on that street, which is Columbus Drive. Columbus up that short hill and at the end, take a left out of the park. Left again on the trail/path along access road at South Mopac. Follow that trail/path to Barton Skyway, which will go over Mopac to west side of Mopac. A park will be on your right. As the road curves left at the end of the park, cut through straight to the roads on the other side of the grass. This will be the corner of Liberty Park and Chatelaine. Hang left on Chatelaine, and then take the first left onto Regents Park. Your next right will be Thousand Oaks Dr, and you’ll take that right onto Thousand Oaks. Thousand Oaks goes to Walsh Tarlton. Take a right on Walsh Tarlton up to Wilderness Drive. Take a right on Wilderness over to Old Walsh Tarlton. Left on Old Walsh Tarlton, up to and across Bee Caves Road. This road now changes names to Rollingwood. You will ride Rollingwood all the way out to Barton Springs Road at Mopac. Go under Mopac at the corner, and enter the running path along east side of Mopac, going up to and out under Mopac bridge. Cross LB Lake. Stay on Veterans around the perimeter of the AHS track, curl under Cesar Chavez to bike path on north side of Cesar Chavez, and back to HQ.

16 Miles: Your map is here. Leave HQ, to northside trail. Go towards Congress bridge. Go under Congress bridge and climb up to bridge on stairs behind hotel. Left on Veterans up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd all the way out to Enfield. Right on Enfield over to Exposition. Right on Expo down to LA Blvd. Left on LA Blvd back to Mopac. Cross to southside trail, and enjoy the shade as you go back to Auditorium Shores, to Congress Bridge, up and over LB Lake to northside trail, and finish back to HQ.

June 19th, 2021 (Grandma’s Marathon): Run with Joy, Martha and Jay!

July 24th (Jack and Jill Marathon): 12-14 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week.

Sept 11th (Surf City Marathon): 12-16 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 16 mile max.

Sept 11th (Surf City Half Marathon): 5-8 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week.

Sept 19th (San Francisco Marathon): 10-12 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week.

Sept 26th (Berlin): 10-14 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 14 mile max.

Oct 2nd (St. George Mini): 5-8 miles recovery long run. Back off from last week a bit.

Oct 2nd – 3rd (St. George, Portland and Twin Cities): 10-12 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week.

Oct 10-11th (Chicago, Boston): 10-14 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 14 mile max. NOTE: Boston minimum run says 12 miles.
