5:45am departure this week for long runs. We are not meeting as a group inside beforehand so plan your bathroom strategy accordingly.

THE ROUTES

2.6 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress down to Barton Springs Road. Right on BS Road over to dog supply place and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ. For 3 miles full, feel free to add a victory lap around the park at GZLs HQ.

4.4 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress down to W. Mary St. Right on W. Mary over to S. Fifth. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Cross Barton Springs Road, and continue past the arts center to the trail that skirts the new hill at the park there, to Riverside. Cross Riverside to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ.

5.4 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress down to Oltorf. Right on Oltorf over to S. Fifth. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Left on BS Road over to dog supply place and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ.

5.9 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress down to Cumberland. Right on Cumberland over to S. Fifth. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Left on BS Road over to dog supply place and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ. [NOTE: You will go about 4 miles to the water stop]

Right on access road sidewalk over to S. First. Right on S. First back up to Cardinal. Left on Cardinal over to S. Fifth St. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Left on BS Road over to dog supply place and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ.

10.4 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress all the way to access road at Ben White Blvd (71). Right on access road sidewalk over to S. First. Right on S. First back up to Cardinal. Left on Cardinal over to S. Fifth St. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Left on BS Road over to dog supply place and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to southside trail, and head towards Mopac. Cross to northside trail and return to HQ.

12 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress all the way to access road at Ben White Blvd (71). Right on access road sidewalk over to S. First. Right on S. First back up to Cardinal. Left on Cardinal over to S. Fifth St. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Left on BS Road over to dog supply place and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to southside trail, and head towards Mopac. Veterans up to Lake Austin Blvd, and out towards Mozart’s. LA Blvd out to Experimental UT Station on your left, which is the first set of buildings on your left after Exposition. Turn around there, and return LA Blvd, back to Mopac, to northside trail and to HQ.

14 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress all the way to access road at Ben White Blvd (71). Right on access road sidewalk over to S. First. Right on S. First back up to Cardinal. Left on Cardinal over to S. Fifth St. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Left on BS Road over to dog supply place and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to southside trail, and head towards Mopac. Veterans up to Lake Austin Blvd, and out towards Mozart’s. LA Blvd out to Enfield, where you will take a hard right on Enfield back to Exposition. Right on Exposition down to LA Blvd, back to Mopac, to northside trail and to HQ.

16 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress all the way to access road at Ben White Blvd (71). Right on access road sidewalk over to S. First. Right on S. First back up to Cardinal. Left on Cardinal over to S. Fifth St. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Left on BS Road over to dog supply place and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to southside trail, and head towards Mopac. Veterans up to Lake Austin Blvd, and out towards Mozart’s. LA Blvd out to Enfield, where you will take a hard right on Enfield back to Exposition. LEFT up Exposition past Windsor Road, to McCullough Street, which is the northern border of the church complex on your right. Turn around at McCullough, and return on Exposition down to LA Blvd, back to Mopac, to northside trail and to HQ.

WATER STOPS

Water stations are normal this week. Hand sanitizer will be affixed to the water barrels to do a quick clean of your water button pushing hands. You may want to carry your own water still, depending on any of your own ad libbing on route variations, or if you start way earlier or later than the programmed 5:45am start window.

RACE SPECIFIC DISTANCES

HERE ARE SUGGESTED LONG RUN WORKOUTS FOR SPECIFIC RACES. IF YOU’RE NOT CURRENTLY TRAINING FOR A SPECIFIC RACE, KEEP YOUR FITNESS BY ALTERNATING A LONGER LONG RUN AND A RECOVERY LONG RUN ON SUCCESSIVE WEEKENDS, DEPENDING ON YOUR CURRENT TRAINING LEVELS. (Ex: Alternate a 10-12 mile run with an 8-10 mile run).

April 25 (Austin Half Marathon): Taper Madness Week 3. 4-8 Miles, with last 3 @ HMGP. Start easy, and finish with 3 miles at half marathon pace. Use actual planned HMGP, by the way, and not some silly fast pace. This is a rehearsal, kids.

April 25 (Toledo Marathon): Taper Madness Week 3. 8-12 Miles, with last 4 @ MGP. Start easy, and finish with 4 miles at marathon goal pace. Use actual planned MGP, by the way, and not some silly fast pace. This is a rehearsal, kids.

May 8 (Santa Barbara Half Marathon): Taper Madness Week begins. 8-13 Miles, with last 5 @ HMGP. Start easy, and finish with 5 miles at half marathon pace. Use actual planned HMGP, by the way, and not some silly fast pace. This is a rehearsal, kids.

June 5/6 (Grand Tetons Half/San Diego Half): 5-8 miles recovery long run.

June 6 (Steamboat Marathon/North Olympic): 12-14 mile recovery long run. Back off from last week.

June 13 (Light At The End Of The Tunnel Marathon): 16-20 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 20 mile max. If any of you are going 18 or 20, let us know and we can provide route suggestions to modify the 16 mile route above.

June 19 (Grandma’s Half Marathon): 5-8 miles recovery long run.

June 19 (Grandma’s Marathon): 12-14 mile recovery long run. Back off from last week.

July 24 (Jack and Jill Marathon): 10-14 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 14 mile max.
