START TIMES

Choose your own time between 5:30-6:30am. We are not meeting as a group inside beforehand so plan your bathroom strategy accordingly. GZLs HQ will remain closed before and after the runs, but The Loop may be able to accommodate you immediately post-run and after 10:00am. Be mindful of your post-run routine so you don’t block residents at HQ area after your run.

THE MAP

Water stations are normal this week. Hand sanitizer will be affixed to the water barrels to do a quick clean of your water button pushing hands. Feel free to refill your own water bottles as needed. You may want to carry your own water still, depending on any of your own ad libbing on route variations.

OUT AND BACK ROUTES

4 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Electric Avenue over to West Avenue. Left on West Ave up to W. MLK. Right on MLK to first left street, which is Rio Grande. Left up Rio Grande to W. 26th. Turn around at W. 26th, and retrace your steps home. Rio Grande back down to MLK, then a short right and then left down West Avenue, back to Electric Avenue and to HQ. Wave to your friends as you pass each other.

6 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Electric Avenue over to West Avenue. Left on West Ave up to W. MLK. Right on MLK to first left street, which is Rio Grande. Left up Rio Grande to W. 29th. Right on W 29th, crossing Guadalupe, and the left onto Fruth Street at the park on your left. After you turn up Fruth, you will take the first right hand street alongside Hemphill Park, which is called West Drive at first. When it crosses W. 30th, it seems to change names to Hemphill Park. Follow Hemphill Park alongside the park up to W. 34th. Right on W. 34th over to Home Lane, which is the first street on your left after you turn onto W. 34th. Turn around at Home Lane, and retrace your steps back home. Return W. 34th over to Hemphill Park. Left on Hemphill Park, down to Fruth. Short left on Fruth down to W. 29th. Right on 29th up to Rio Grande. Left on Rio Grande down to MLK, then a short right and then left down West Avenue, back to Electric Avenue and to HQ. Wave to your friends as you pass each other.

8 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Electric Avenue over to West Avenue. Left on West Ave up to W. MLK. Right on MLK to first left street, which is Rio Grande. Left up Rio Grande to W. 29th. San Jacinto back up right onto Duval, up to E. 34th. Left on E. 34th over to Speedway, and a short left on Speedway down to W. 34th. Right on W. 34th over to Hemphill Park. Left on Hemphill Park, down to Fruth. Short left on Fruth down to W. 29th. Right on 29th up to Rio Grande. Left on Rio Grande down to MLK, then a short right and then left down West Avenue, back to Electric Avenue and to HQ. Wave to your friends as you pass each other.

9.75 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Electric Avenue over to West Avenue. Left on West Ave up to W. MLK. Right on MLK to first left street, which is Rio Grande. Left up Rio Grande to W. 29th. Right on W 29th, crossing Guadalupe, and the left onto Fruth Street at the park on your left. Lafayette back to Dean Keeton, over to UT, right on San Jacinto, veer right onto Duval, up to E. 34th. Left on E. 34th over to Speedway, and a short left on Speedway down to W. 34th. Right on W. 34th over to Hemphill Park. Left on Hemphill Park, down to Fruth. Short left on Fruth down to W. 29th. Right on 29th up to Rio Grande. Left on Rio Grande down to MLK, then a short right and then left down West Avenue, back to Electric Avenue and to HQ. Wave to your friends as you pass each other.

Right on Pleasant Valley down to Longhorn Dam, and cross to southside trail at the Dam. Follow southside trail and boardwalk back to Pfluger footbridge and cross back to HQ on Pfluger footbridge.

14.2 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Electric Avenue over to West Avenue. Left on West Ave up to W. MLK. Right on MLK to first left street, which is Rio Grande. Loop across to northside trail and take NS Trail back to HQ.

16 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac, up to LA Blvd, out to Enfield. Right on Enfield all the way under Mopac and up small hill. Veer right at Hartford Road to Palma Plaza, and take a left on Palma Plaza. At Y intersection, veer right onto W. 14th St. 14th over to West Lynn. Right on West Lynn and then quick Left onto W. 13th. 13th over to Windsor Road. Right on Windsor (name change to Blanco), and then left onto W. 12th. 12th over to West Avenue. Left on West Ave up to W. MLK. Right on MLK to first left street, which is Rio Grande. Left up Rio Grande to W. 29th. Right on W 29th, crossing Guadalupe, and the left onto Fruth Street at the park on your left. After you turn up Fruth, you will take the first right hand street alongside Hemphill Park, which is called West Drive at first. When it crosses W. 30th, it seems to change names to Hemphill Park. 18 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac, up to LA Blvd, out to Enfield. Right on Enfield all the way under Mopac and up small hill. Right on Pleasant Valley down to Longhorn Dam, and cross to southside trail at the Dam. Take SS trail and boardwalk out to Pfluger footbridge, and cross back to Northside trail. Take NS Trail back towards Mopac, but continue just for a bit on the trail to the Austin High School track. Exit trail at Austin HS track, and return to HQ via bike path along north side of Cesar Chavez (right on Veterans at track, under Cesar Chavez, and then join bike path).

19.5 Miles: Your map is here. You will travel with your 18 mile brethren and sisters until late. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac, up to LA Blvd, out to Enfield. Right on Enfield all the way under Mopac and up small hill. Veer right at Hartford Road to Palma Plaza, and take a left on Palma Plaza. At Y intersection, veer right onto W. 14th St. 14th over to West Lynn. Right on West Lynn and then quick Left onto W. 13th. 13th over to Windsor Road. Right on Windsor (name change to Blanco), and then left onto W. 12th. 12th over to West Avenue. Left on West Ave up to W. MLK. Right on MLK to first left street, which is Rio Grande. Left up Rio Grande to W. 29th. Right on W 29th, crossing Guadalupe, and the left onto Fruth Street at the park on your left. Continue E. 34th over to Duval. Right on Duval down to merge with San Jacinto, and on to Dean Keeton. Left on Dean Keeton over and up to and under/over I-35. On East side of I-35, take a right on Lafayette, which changes names to Chicon in a block or so, and take Chicon down to E. 12th Street. Left on E. 12th over to Pleasant Valley Road. Right on Pleasant Valley down to Longhorn Dam, and cross to southside trail at the Dam. Take SS trail and boardwalk out to Mopac, and cross back to Northside trail. Take Veterans around Austin HS Track, under Cesar Chavez, and finish bike trail back to field at HQ. Continue on bike path to Seaholm, and up to Electric Avenue and back to HQ. Measures a bit shy of 20, but you know what to do if you have that running log anxiety.

RACE SPECIFIC WORKOUTS

HERE ARE SUGGESTED LONG RUN WORKOUTS FOR RACES THAT ARE IN THE FUTURE, AND MAY STILL BE SCHEDULED. IF YOUR RACE IS CANCELED, KEEP YOUR FITNESS BY ALTERNATING A LONGER LONG RUN AND A RECOVERY LONG RUN ON SUCCESSIVE WEEKENDS, DEPENDING ON YOUR CURRENT TRAINING LEVELS. (Ex: Alternate a 10-12 mile run with an 8-10 mile run).

April 25th, 2021 (Austin Half Marathon NEW DATE): 8-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 10 mile max.

April 25th, 2021 (Toledo Marathon): 16-20 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 20 mile max.

May 8th (Santa Barbara Half Marathon): 8-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 10 mile max.

June 5th (Grand Tetons Half): 6-8 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 8 mile max.

June 6th (Steamboat Marathon): 10-14 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 14 mile max.

June 19th, 2021 (Grandma’s Marathon): 10-14 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 14 mile max. Officially on the books! Welcome to the party!

June 27th (Missoula Marathon): 9-12 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile max. Welcome to the party!
