Join us for breakfast post-long run hosted by Health & Fitness Activations and Kodiak Cakes. Bring a mask and plan on staying 6 feet apart!


START TIMES

Choose your own time between 5:30-6:30am. We are not meeting as a group inside beforehand so plan your bathroom strategy accordingly. GZLs HQ will remain closed before and after the run.

Water stations are normal this week. Hand sanitizer will be affixed to the water barrels to do a quick clean of your water button pushing hands. Feel free to refill your own water bottles as needed. You may want to carry your own water still, depending on any of your own ad libbing on route variations.

THE MAPS

We are touring the Expo-Bridle Path-Jefferson-Shoal Creek-Hancock-Duval loops this week. Runners going 8 miles or less will go out and back along the route.

3 Miles: Use the 12 mile map below, but turn around at mile 1.5. Take bike path along north side of Cesar Chavez over to dog pound loop under Cesar Chavez, to Veterans around AHS track, to Mopac and Veterans up to LA Blvd. Turn around at LA Blvd, and return LA Blvd, to Mopac, to Veterans around to and under Cesar Chavez, to bike path and back to HQ.

4 Miles: Check the 12 mile map below, but turn around at mile 2. Take bike path along north side of Cesar Chavez over to dog pound loop under Cesar Chavez, to Veterans around AHS track, to Mopac and Veterans up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd over to Exposition.  Turn around at Expo, and return LA Blvd, to Mopac, to Veterans around to and under Cesar Chavez, to bike path and back to HQ.

5 Miles: Check the 12 mile map below, but turn around at mile 2.5. Take bike path along north side of Cesar Chavez over to dog pound loop under Cesar Chavez, to Veterans around AHS track, to Mopac and Veterans up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd over to Exposition.  Right on Expo up to W. 12th (road at the top of the O Henry track). You’ll turn around at W. 12th (or when your watch beeps 2.5 miles). Turn around there, and retrace your steps back to HQ. Exposition, down to LA Blvd, to Mopac, to Veterans around to and under Cesar Chavez, to bike path and back to HQ.

7 Miles: Check the 12 mile map below, but turn around at mile 3.5. Take bike path along north side of Cesar Chavez over to dog pound loop under Cesar Chavez, to Veterans around AHS track, to Mopac and Veterans up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd over to Exposition.  Right on Expo up to Bridle Path. Right on Bridle Path and follow it around as it curves to the left where it becomes Sharon Lane. You’ll turn around at Windsor Road (or when your watch beeps 3.5 miles). Turn around there, and retrace your steps back to HQ. Sharon back down to corner with Bridle Path. Bridle Path to Exposition, down to LA Blvd, to Mopac, to Veterans around to and under Cesar Chavez, to bike path and back to HQ.

8 Miles: Check the 12 mile map below, but turn around at mile 4. Take bike path along north side of Cesar Chavez over to dog pound loop under Cesar Chavez, to Veterans around AHS track, to Mopac and Veterans up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd over to Exposition.  Right on Expo up to Bridle Path. Right on Bridle Path and follow it around as it curves to the left where it becomes Sharon Lane. Where Sharon ends, turn left on Indian Trail, then take the first right on Dormarion Lane. Follow that to the multi-way intersection (Dormarion, Tower Drive, and Margranita Crescent) with Tarrytown park on your right and take right hand “Y” veer to Marganita Crescent. Loop around, and you’ll turn around about where the park ends on your right (a street merges into Margranita about there). Turn around there, and retrace your steps back to HQ. Margranita Crescent, around curve and cross Tower Drive to Dormarion. Dormarion down to Indian Trail. Left on Indian Trail over to Sharon. Sharon down to corner with Bridle Path. Bridle Path to Exposition, down to LA Blvd, to Mopac, to Veterans around to and under Cesar Chavez, to bike path and back to HQ.

10 Miles: Your map is here. Take bike path along north side of Cesar Chavez over to dog pound loop under Cesar Chavez, to Veterans around AHS track, to Mopac and Veterans up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd over to Exposition.  Right on Expo up to Bridle Path. Right on Bridle Path and follow it around as it curves to the left where it becomes Sharon Lane. Where Sharon ends, turn left on Indian Trail, then take the first right on Dormarion Lane. Follow that to the multi-way intersection (Dormarion, Tower Drive, and Margranita Crescent) with Tarrytown park on your right and take right hand “Y” veer to Margranita Crescent. Loop around, and take a right on Bland Street, then right on Westover. Cross under Mopac then take a left on Jefferson. Take a right on 35th, and veer left to 38th, across town and across Lamar and Guadalupe, taking a right on Duval. Right on Duval down to merge with San Jacinto. San Jacinto to and through UT campus, exiting at the talking oil derrick by veering right to San Jacinto. Up San Jacinto past the Capitol grounds to 11th. Right on 11th over to Congress. Left on Congress down to 3rd Street. right on 3rd St over to and across footbridge to Electric Avenue (Trader Joe’s) and back to HQ.  

12 Miles: Your map is here. Take bike path along north side of Cesar Chavez over to dog pound loop under Cesar Chavez, to Veterans around AHS track, to Mopac and Veterans up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd over to Exposition.  Right on Expo up to Bridle Path. Right on Bridle Path and follow it around as it curves to the left where it becomes Sharon Lane. Where Sharon ends, turn left on Indian Trail, then take the first right on Dormarion Lane. Follow that to the multi-way intersection (Dormarion, Tower Drive, and Margranita Crescent) with Tarrytown park on your right and take right hand “Y” veer to Margranita Crescent. Loop around, and take a right on Bland Street, then right on Westover. Cross under Mopac then take a left on Jefferson. Take a right on 35th, and veer left to 38th, to Shoal Creek where you'll turn left. Take Shoal Creek to 45th. Right on 45th, across town and across Lamar and Guadalupe, taking a right on Speedway. Speedway down to 38th Street. Left on 38th over to Duval. Right on Duval down to merge with San Jacinto. San Jacinto to and through UT campus, exiting at the talking oil derrick by veering right to San Jacinto. Up San Jacinto past the Capitol grounds to 11th. Right on 11th over to Congress. Left on Congress down to 3rd Street. right on 3rd St over to and across footbridge to Electric Avenue (Trader Joe’s) and back to HQ.   

14 Miles: Your map is here. Take a right on 35th, and veer left to 38th, to Shoal Creek where you'll turn left. Take Shoal Creek to Hancock. Right on Hancock, veering left at Fonda San Miguel to get onto North Loop. North Loop across town and across Lamar, taking a right on Guadalupe one block to 51st and UT Intramural Fields. Left (east) on 51st up to Duval. Right on Duval down to merge with San Jacinto. San Jacinto to and through UT campus, exiting at the talking oil derrick by veering right to San Jacinto. Up San Jacinto past the Capitol grounds to 11th. Right on 11th over to Congress. Left on Congress down and across Congress bridge to southside trail. SS trail back to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ.  

16 Miles: Your map is here. Take bike path along north side of Cesar Chavez over to dog pound loop under Cesar Chavez, to Veterans around AHS track, to Mopac and Veterans up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd over to Exposition.  Right on Expo up to Bridle Path. Right on Bridle Path and follow it around as it curves to the left where it becomes Sharon Lane. Where Sharon ends, turn left on Indian Trail, then take the first right on Dormarion Lane. Follow that to the multi-way intersection (Dormarion, Tower Drive, and Margranita Crescent) with Tarrytown park on your right and take right hand “Y” veer to Margranita Crescent. Loop around, and take a right on Bland Street, then right on Westover. Cross under Mopac then take a left on Jefferson. Take a right on 35th, and veer left to 38th, to Shoal Creek where you'll turn left. Take Shoal Creek through Hancock, and diverge from your 14 mile brethren here. You’ll continue up Shoal Creek, across Northland up to White Rock. Left on White Rock over to Bullard. Right on Bullard around to Treadwell Blvd at near corner of Elementary school campus and baseball complex. Turn around there, and return Bullard to White Rock to Shoal Creek. Right on Shoal Creek down to Hancock again. Left on Hancock, veering left at Fonda San Miguel to get onto North Loop. North Loop across town and across Lamar, taking a right on Guadalupe one block to 51st and UT Intramural Fields. Left (east) on 51st up to Duval. Right on Duval down to merge with San Jacinto. San Jacinto to and through UT campus, exiting at the talking oil derrick by veering right to San Jacinto. Up San Jacinto past the Capitol grounds to 11th. Right on 11th over to Congress. Left on Congress down to 3rd Street. right on 3rd St over to and across footbridge to Electric Avenue (Trader Joe’s) and back to HQ.  

18 Miles: Your map is here. Follow that to the multi-way intersection (Dormarion, Tower Drive, and Margranita Crescent) with Tarrytown park on your right and take right hand “Y” veer to Margranita Crescent. Loop around, and take a right on Bland Street, then right on Westover. Cross under Mopac then take a left on Jefferson. Take a right on 35th, and veer left to 38th, to Shoal Creek where you'll turn left. Take Shoal Creek through Hancock, and diverge from your 14 mile brethren here. Right on Great Northern up to and under pedestrian bridge to Pinecrest (first street after pedestrian overhead bridge). Right on Pinecrest to Shoal Creek. Right on Shoal Creek down to Hancock again. Left on Hancock, veering left at Fonda San Miguel to get onto North Loop. North Loop across town and across Lamar, taking a right on Guadalupe one block to 51st and UT Intramural Fields. Left (east) on 51st up to Duval. Right on Duval down to merge with San Jacinto. San Jacinto to and through UT campus, exiting at the talking oil derrick by veering right to San Jacinto. Up San Jacinto past the Capitol grounds to 11th. Right on 11th over to Congress. Left on Congress down to 3rd Street. right on 3rd St over to and across footbridge to Electric Avenue (Trader Joe’s) and back to HQ.  

RACE SPECIFIC WORKOUTS

HERE ARE SUGGESTED LONG RUN WORKOUTS FOR RACES THAT ARE IN THE FUTURE, AND MAY STILL BE SCHEDULED. IF YOUR RACE IS CANCELED, KEEP YOUR FITNESS BY ALTERNATING A LONGER LONG RUN AND A RECOVERY LONG RUN ON SUCCESSIVE WEEKENDS, DEPENDING ON YOUR CURRENT TRAINING LEVELS. (Ex: Alternate a 10-12 mile run with an 8-10 mile run).

November 8 (RFTW): 5-6 miles. Add a mile to your last longer long run, up to that 6 mile max.

December 6 (CIM): 14-18 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 18 mile max.

December 6 (San Antonio Half): 8-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 10 mile max.

December 13 (Decker Half): 6-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 10 mile max.

December 13 (BCS Marathon): 10-14 mile recovery run. Back off from last week.

January 17, 2021 (3M Half Marathon and Houston Half Marathon): 5-8 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 8 mile max.

January 17, 2021 (Houston Marathon): 10-14 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 14 mile max.

February 14, 2021 (Austin Marathon): 8-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 10 mile max.
