[Click for Details] Saturday Long Run: South Austin Marathon start plus Enfield Triangle

START TIMES

Choose your own time between 5:30-6:30am. We are not meeting as a group inside beforehand so plan your bathroom strategy accordingly. GZLs HQ will remain closed before and after the runs, but The Loop may be able to accommodate you immediately post-run and after 10:00am. Be mindful of your post-run routine so you don’t block residents at HQ area after your run.

THE MAP

Water stations are normal this week. Hand sanitizer will be affixed to the water barrels to do a quick clean of your water button pushing hands. Feel free to refill your own water bottles as needed. You may want to carry your own water still, depending on any of your own ad libbing on route variations.

THE ROUTES

2.6 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress down to Barton Springs Road. Right on BS Road past Palmer events center (on your right) to Lee Barton Drive. Turn right on Lee Barton. (Pitch and putt course will be on your right). Cross Riverside to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ. For 3 miles, feel free to add a victory lap around the park at GZLs HQ.

4.4 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress down to W. Mary St. Right on W. Mary over to S. Fifth. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Cross Barton Springs Road, and continue past the arts center to the trail that skirts the new hill at the park there, to Riverside. Cross Riverside to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ.

5.4 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress down to Oltorf. Right on Oltorf over to S. Fifth. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Left on BS Road over to the pet store and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ.

5.9 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress down to Cumberland. Right on Cumberland over to S. Fifth. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Left on BS Road over to the pet store and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ. [NOTE: You will go about 4 miles to the water stop]

7.7 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress all the way to access road at Ben White Blvd (71). Right on access road sidewalk over to S. First. Right on S. First to Cardinal. Left on Cardinal over to S. Fifth St. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Left on BS Road over to the pet store and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ.

10.4 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress all the way to access road at Ben White Blvd (71). Right on access road sidewalk over to S. First. Right on S. First back up to Cardinal. Left on Cardinal over to S. Fifth St. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Left on BS Road over to the pet store and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to south side trail, and head west to Mopac. Cross to north side of the lake under Mopac. Take north side trail back to HQ.

12 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress all the way to access road at Ben White Blvd (71). Right on access road sidewalk over to S. First. Right on S. First back up to Cardinal. Left on Cardinal over to S. Fifth St. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Left on BS Road over to the pet store and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to south side trail, and head west over to Mopac. Cross to north side under Mopac. Take Veterans (left) up to Lake Austin Blvd, and out to Exposition water stop. Turn around there, and return to LA Blvd, and back to Mopac, to north side trail, and back to HQ.

14.2 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress all the way to access road at Ben White Blvd (71). Right on access road sidewalk over to S. First. Right on S. First back up to Cardinal. Left on Cardinal over to S. Fifth St. Right on S. Fifth back to Barton Springs Road. Left on BS Road over to the pet store and turn right onto Lee Barton Drive. Pitch and putt course will be on your right on Lee Barton. Cross Riverside to south side trail, and head over to Mopac. Cross to north side of the lake under Mopac. Take Veterans (left) up to Lake Austin Blvd, and out to Enfield. Hard right on Enfield back to Exposition. Expo right down to LA Blvd, and back to Mopac, to north side trail, and back to HQ.


WATER STOPS

1. Sidewalk on west side of S. Congress just south of Great Outdoors Nursery. Across from St. Edwards, just past Cumberland Road.
2. S. Fifth @ West Mary (at Austin Public Library branch there on your left)
3. Mopac water fountains
4. LA Blvd at Exposition (on south side near traffic signal)
5. Trail fountains along Northside and Southside trails


RACE SPECIFIC WORKOUTS

HERE ARE SUGGESTED LONG RUN WORKOUTS FOR RACES THAT ARE IN THE FUTURE, AND MAY STILL BE SCHEDULED. IF YOUR RACE IS CANCELED, KEEP YOUR FITNESS BY ALTERNATING A LONGER LONG RUN AND A RECOVERY LONG RUN ON SUCCESSIVE WEEKENDS, DEPENDING ON YOUR CURRENT TRAINING LEVELS. (Ex: Alternate a 10-12 mile run with an 8-10 mile run).

November 8th (RFTW): 5-6 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run up to the 6 mile max.

December 6 (CIM): 18-20 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 20 mile max. NOTE: You will have to add some miles of your choosing to bulk up the 14 miler listed above to 18-20 range.

December 6 (San Antonio Half): 10-12 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile max.

December 13 (Decker Half): 5-8 miles recovery long run. Back off from last week.

December 13 (BCS Marathon): 12-14 mile recovery run. Back off from last week.

January 17, 2021 (3M Half Marathon and Houston Half Marathon): 5-8 miles recovery long run. Back off from last week.

January 17, 2021 (Houston Marathon): 12-16 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 16 mile max. NOTE: You will have to add some miles of your choosing to bulk up the 14 miler listed above to 16 range.

February 14, 2021 (Austin Marathon): 10-14 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 14 mile max.

February 14, 2021 (Austin Half Marathon): 5-8 miles recovery long run. Back off from last week.
