Saturday Long Run - Out and Back going through Tarrytown up to Shoal Creek

PLEASE REVIEW THIS SATURDAY’S ROUTE DESCRIPTIONS AND MAPS. IT’S A NEW OUT AND BACK ROUTE, SO YOU’LL WANT TO FAMILIARIZE YOURSELVES WITH SOME OF THE TURNS. MAYBE EVEN WRITE UP A CHEAT SHEET IF YOU ARE SO INCLINED.

3.5 Miles: Your map is here. Cross to southside trail on Pfluger footbridge. SS trail over to Mopac, and cross back to northside trail back to HQ.

5 Miles: Your map is here. Cross to southside trail on Pfluger footbridge. SS trail over to Mopac, and cross back to Veterans. Veterans up to Lake Austin Blvd. Left on LA Blvd to Exposition. Right on Expo up to O. Henry Middle School. Turn around at O. Henry, and return to LA Blvd, to Mopac, and stay on northside trail back to HQ.

7 Miles: Your map is here. Cross to southside trail on Pfluger footbridge. SS trail over to Mopac, and cross back to Veterans. Veterans up to Lake Austin Blvd. Left on LA Blvd out all the way to Enfield (near Mozart’s). Right on Enfield back to Exposition. Right down Expo straight down to LA Blvd. Left on LA Blvd to Mopac, and stay on northside trail back to HQ.

8 Miles: Your map is here. Cross to southside trail on Pfluger footbridge. SS trail over to Mopac, and cross back to Veterans. Veterans up to Lake Austin Blvd. Left on LA Blvd out all the way to Enfield (near Mozart’s). Right on Enfield back to Exposition. Left on Expo up a skinny bit, and take a right on Bridle Path. You will come to a park, and a hard left corner, which is a name change to Sharon Lane. Turn around at the water stop there at the park, and return Bridle Path over to Exposition. Left down Expo straight down to LA Blvd. Left on LA Blvd to Mopac, and stay on northside trail back to HQ.

Left on Indian Trail to next right hand turn, which is Dormarion Lane. Right on Dormarion Lane up to a complicated intersection at Tarrytown Park. Go straight across Tower Drive to Margranita Cres. Hang right on Margranita as it curves around to Bland St. Turn around at Bland, and return home on Margranita Cres, and follow it as it curves by Tarrytown Park. At a 5-way intersection, continue straight onto Dormarion Lane. Dormarion Lane down to Indian Trail. Left on Indian Trail over to Sharon Lane. Right on Sharon down to where it curves right to a name change to Bridle Path. Bridle Path over to Exposition. Left down Expo straight down to LA Blvd. Left on LA Blvd to Mopac, and stay on northside trail back to HQ.

Right on Enfield out to LA Blvd. Left on LA Blvd to Mopac, cross to southside trail, to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ.

Turn around at the Records building, and come on home. Shoal Creek all the way back down to 38th. Shoal Creek over a short jaunt to the right hand veer on W. 38th to Bull Creek (name change). Left on Jefferson down to Northwood. Under Mopac, and take a left on Bland. Left on Bland to Margranita Cres. Left on Margranita, and follow it as it curves by Tarrytown Park. At a 5-way intersection, continue straight onto Dormarion Lane. Dormarion Lane down to Indian Trail. Left on Indian Trail over to Sharon Lane. Shoal Creek over a short jaunt to the right hand veer on W. 38th to Bull Creek (name change). Left on Jefferson down to Northwood. Under Mopac, and take a left on Bland. Left on Bland to Margranita Cres. Left on Margranita, and follow it as it curves by Tarrytown Park. At a 5-way intersection, continue straight onto Dormarion Lane. Shoal Creek over a short jaunt to the right hand veer on W. 38th to Bull Creek (name change). Left on Jefferson down to Northwood. Under Mopac, and take a left on Bland. Left on Bland to Margranita Cres. Left on Margranita, and follow it as it curves by Tarrytown Park. At a 5-way intersection, continue straight onto Dormarion Lane. Sept 8th (Erie) – Run smart, run with joy!

Sept 14th-15th (Big Cottonwood, Tunnel Light Marathon): Taper madness finishes. 8-12 miles, with last 4 @ MGP. Use honest MGP, but start easy, and finish at race pace. Start time 5:45am.

Sept 22nd (Buenos Aires): Taper madness week 2. 12-16 miles, with last 6 @ MGP. Use honest MGP, but start easy, and finish at race pace. Start time 5:45am.

Sept 29th (Berlin): Taper madness begins. 14-18 miles, with last 8 @ MGP. Use honest MGP, but start easy, and finish at race pace. Start time 5:45am.

Oct 5th (St. George): Last loooonnnggg run. 20-22 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 22 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Oct 12th-13th (Hudson River, Chicago): 12-14 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am.

Oct 20th (Detroit): 18-20 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 20 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Oct 27th (MCM / M2M Marathons): 12-14 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am.

Nov 2-3 (Revel Mt., NYC): 16-20 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 20 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

BEGINNER GAZELLES, HALF MARATHONERS, and EVERYBODY ELSE:

Beginner Gazelles!  This week, 3-7 miles. Choose a distance amongst your pace pals, up to that 7 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Everybody Else (GZLs peeps): 7-12 miles. If you went 12 last week, maybe cut back to 7-10 this week. For anything else, add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile mark. Start time 5:45am.

Sept 8th (Columbia media marathon): Run safe, run with joy, enjoy the altitude!

Oct 13th (30a Half): 5-8 miles. Recovery long run. Back off from last week a bit. Start time 5:45am.
