Saturday Long Run - NEW ROUTE West Ave to Rio Grande and more.

This is a new route. Make sure you read the details!

START TIMES:

Be at Gazelles HQ at 5:45am.

We will be leaving HQ in groups divided by LONG RUN PACE. Gilbert will start each group. (Your LONG RUN PACE is about one minute slower than your marathon goal pace.)

Group 1 — 10 min/mile+
Group 2 — 8-9:59 min/mile
Group 3 — 7:59 min/mile and under

If you start way before the scheduled start times, please take water to cover yourselves for that first water stop (or two) in case you're ahead of the logistical team.

OUT AND BACK ROUTES

3 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and right over to West Avenue (the street to the east of the Trader Joe's shopping center.) This is before crossing any bridge. Left (north) up West Avenue. Take West up to MLK. Take a short right on MLK, then a quick left onto Rio Grande. Go up Rio Grande to first left hand alley/street, where you will turn around. Retrace your steps back to HQ (south on Rio Grande down to MLK. A quick right on MLK, then left on West Ave. West Ave down to Trader Joe's and back to HQ.

4 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to West Avenue, which is the street to the east of the Trader Joe's shopping center. This is before crossing any bridge. Left (north) up West Avenue. Take West up to MLK. Take a short right on MLK, then a quick left onto Rio Grande. Left on Rio Grande up to W. 26th. Turn around there, and retrace your steps back to HQ (south on Rio Grande down to MLK. A quick right on MLK, then left on West Ave. West Ave down to Trader Joe's and back to HQ.

5 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to West Avenue, which is the street to the east of the Trader Joe's shopping center. This is before crossing any bridge. Left (north) up West Avenue. Take West up to MLK. Take a short right on MLK, then a quick left onto Rio Grande. Left on Rio Grande up to W. 29th. Right on W. 29th over to Guadalupe. Left on Guadalupe up to W. 30th St. Turn around there, and retrace your steps back to HQ (south on Guadalupe to W. 29th. Right on 29th over to Rio Grande. Left on Rio Grande down to MLK. A quick right on MLK, then left on West Ave. West Ave down to Trader Joe's and back to HQ.

7 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to West Avenue, which is the street to the east of the Trader Joe's shopping center. This is before crossing any bridge. Left (north) up West Avenue. Take West up to MLK. Take a short right on MLK, then a quick left onto Rio Grande. Left on Rio Grande up to W. 29th. Right on W. 29th over to Guadalupe. Left on Guadalupe up to W. 34th St. Left on W. 34th over to where is crosses Shoal Creek. Turn around there, and retrace your steps back to HQ (W. 34th to Guadalupe, south on Guadalupe to W. 29th. Right on 29th over to Rio Grande. Left on Rio Grande down to MLK. A quick right on MLK, then left on West Ave. West Ave down to Trader Joe's and back to HQ.

8 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to West Avenue, which is the street to the east of the Trader Joe's shopping center. This is before crossing any bridge. Left (north) up West Avenue. Take West up to MLK. Take a short right on MLK, then a quick left onto Rio Grande. Left on Rio Grande up to W. 29th. Right on W. 29th over to Guadalupe. Left on Guadalupe up to W. 34th St. Left on W. 34th over to Jefferson. Left on Jefferson down to Northwood Road. Right on Northwood under Mopac, and just after going under Mopac, there is a name change to Westover, and you will take a left onto Bland St. Left on Bland to Margranita Cres. Left on Margranita, and follow it as it curves by Tarrytown Park. At a 5-way intersection, continue straight onto Dormarion Lane. Dormarion Lane down to Windsor. Left on Windsor over to Sharon Lane. Right on Sharon down to where it curves right to a name change to Bridle Path. Just after this corner, take a left down Forest Trail to Enfield. Left on Enfield, and enter the Johnson Creek trail that goes along and under Mopac. Follow that trail to The Rock under Mopac, then take northside trail back to HQ.

10 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to West Avenue, which is the street to the east of the Trader Joe's shopping center. This is before crossing any bridge. Left (north) up West Avenue. Take West up to MLK. Take a short right on MLK, then a quick left onto Rio Grande. Left on Rio Grande up to W. 29th. Right on W. 29th over to Guadalupe. Left on Guadalupe up to W. 38th St. Left on W. 38th. W. 38th across, and you will veer right onto W. 38th at the Randall's (which is on your left), and then it changes names to Bull Creek.  Bull Creek up to Jackson, which is a hard left at the Senior apartment complex on your left. Jackson back down to 35th St. Right on 35th over Mopac and to Exposition. Left on Expo down to Westover. Left on Westover to Bland St. (on your right). Right on Bland to Margranita Cres. Left on Margranita, and follow it as it curves by Tarrytown Park. At a 5-way intersection, continue straight onto Dormarion Lane. Dormarion Lane down to Windsor. Left on Windsor over to Sharon Lane. Right on Sharon down to where it curves right to a name change to Bridle Path. Bridle Path over to Exposition. Left down Expo to LA Blvd. Left on LA Blvd to Mopac, to northside trail, and back to HQ.

Bridle Path all the way to Scenic. Left on Scenic to LA Blvd. LA Blvd back to Mopac. At Mopac, cross to southside trail, and take southside trail over to Congress bridge. Loop up and over Congress bridge to northside trail, and then back to HQ.

Bridle Path all the way to Scenic. Left on Scenic to LA Blvd. LA Blvd back to Mopac. At Mopac, cross to southside trail, and take southside trail over past Congress bridge to boardwalk and I-35. Grab a sip of water under I-35, and return boardwalk and trail to Congress, where you will cross up and over LB Lake to northside trail and then back to HQ.

THE MARATHONS

Sept 14th-15th (Big Cottonwood, Tunnel Light Marathon): 10-14 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am.

Sept 22nd (Buenos Aires): 12-16 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 16 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Sept 29th (Berlin): 10-12 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am.

Oct 5th (St. George): 10-14 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 14 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Oct 12th-13th (Hudson River, Chicago): 10-12 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am.

Oct 20th (Detroit): 10-14 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 14 mile max. Start time 5:45am

Oct 27th (MCM / M2M Marathons): 9-12 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 12 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

BEGINNER GAZELLES, HALF MARATHONERS, and EVERYBODY ELSE:

Beginner Gazelles!  This week, 3-7 miles. Choose a distance amongst your pace pals, up to that 7 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Everybody Else (GZLs peeps): 7-12 miles. If you went 12 last week, maybe cut back to 7-10 this week. For anything else, add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile mark. Start time 5:45am.

June 29th (Santa Barbara Half): Run Smart, run with Joy.

Aug 17th (SeaWheeze Half): 5-8 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am.

Sept 8th (Columbia media marathon): 8-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 10 mile max. Start time 5:45am.
