Saturday Long Run - O/B Expo to Shoal Creek

Please note: We will be hosting the Fall Marathon/Half Marathon Kickoff session from 8:30a - 9:30a after the long run. All runners finishing up their long run after 8:30a, please use the far door to enter Gazelles HQ. Thank you!

START TIMES:

Everybody leaves HQ at 5:45am.

THE MAPS

If you start earlier (or later) than your group's call time, please check with your pace pals to make sure your team is all starting at the same time. As always, if you start way before the scheduled start times, please take water to cover yourselves for that first water stop (or two) in case you're ahead of the logistical team. We will be going out and back Shoal Creek via Exposition this week.

HIGH WATER NOTE: If the trail is still flooded at the low water crossing at Austin High, Coach will let you know, and you should start instead by taking bike trail on north side of Cesar Chavez instead of northside trail at the very start. Bike trail under Cesar Chavez at Austin High, to Veterans, and from there, you are with the maps as drawn.

THE ROUTES

3 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac. Veterans up to Lake Austin Blvd. Turn around there, and return to GZLs HQ. Return Veterans to Mopac. Stay on northside trail back to GZLs HQ.

4 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac. Veterans up to Lake Austin Blvd. Left on LA Blvd to Exposition. Turn around there, and return to GZLs HQ. Return Lake Austin Blvd, to Mopac. Stay on northside trail back to GZLs HQ.

5 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac. Veterans up to Lake Austin Blvd. Left on LA Blvd over to Exposition. Right on Expo up to Enfield. Turn around there, and return to GZLs HQ. From there, retrace your steps back down Exposition to Lake Austin Blvd, to Mopac. Stay on northside trail back to GZLs HQ.

7 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac. Veterans up to Lake Austin Blvd. Left on LA Blvd over to Exposition. Right on Expo up to Westover. Turn around there, and return to GZLs HQ. From there, retrace your steps back down Exposition all the way to Lake Austin Blvd, to Mopac. Stay on northside trail back to GZLs HQ.

8 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac. Veterans up to Lake Austin Blvd. Left on LA Blvd over to Exposition. Right on Expo up to 35th. Turn around there, and return to GZLs HQ. From there, retrace your steps back down Exposition all the way to Lake Austin Blvd, to Mopac. Stay on northside trail back to GZLs HQ.

10 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac. Veterans up to Lake Austin Blvd. Left on LA Blvd over to Exposition. Right on Expo up to 35th. Right on 35th up and over Mopac. Left on Jackson at first light to Bull Creek. Turn around there, and return to GZLs HQ. From there, retrace your steps back to Exposition (Jackson to 35th to Exposition). Exposition all the way to Lake Austin Blvd, to Mopac. Stay on northside trail back to GZLs HQ.

12 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac. Veterans up to Lake Austin Blvd. Left on LA Blvd over to Exposition. Right on Expo up to 35th. Right on 35th up and over Mopac. Left on Jackson at first light to Bull Creek. Left on Bull Creek up to Hancock. Turn around there, and return to GZLs HQ. From there, retrace your steps back to Exposition (Shoal Creek to Hancock to Bull Creek to Jackson to 35th to Exposition). Exposition all the way to Lake Austin Blvd, to Mopac. Stay on northside trail back to GZLs HQ.

14 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac. Veterans up to Lake Austin Blvd. Left on LA Blvd over to Exposition. Right on Expo up to 35th. Right on 35th up and over Mopac. Left on Jackson at first light to Bull Creek. Left on Bull Creek up to Hancock. Right on Hancock to Shoal Creek. Shoal Creek left up to Northland/2222. Turn around there, and return to GZLs HQ. From there, retrace your steps back to Exposition (Shoal Creek to Hancock to Bull Creek to Jackson to 35th to Exposition). Exposition all the way to Lake Austin Blvd, to Mopac. Stay on northside trail back to GZLs HQ.

16 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac. Veterans up to Lake Austin Blvd. Left on LA Blvd over to Exposition. Right on Expo up to 35th. Right on 35th up and over Mopac. Left on Jackson at first light to Bull Creek. Left on Bull Creek up to Hancock. Right on Hancock to Shoal Creek. Shoal Creek left up to White Rock. Left on White Rock over to Great Northern. Right on Great Northern up to West Terrace Drive. This is the next right hand street after the baseball complex. Turn around at West Terrace, and return the way you came down Great Northern. From there, retrace your steps back to Exposition (White Rock to Shoal Creek to Hancock to Bull Creek to Jackson to 35th to Exposition). Exposition all the way to Lake Austin Blvd, to Mopac. Stay on northside trail back to GZLs HQ.

18 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac. Veterans up to Lake Austin Blvd. Left on LA Blvd over to Exposition. Right on Expo up to 35th. Right on 35th up and over Mopac. Left on Jackson at first light to Bull Creek. Left on Bull Creek up to Hancock. Right on Hancock to Shoal Creek. Shoal Creek left up to White Rock. Left on White Rock over to Great Northern. Right on Great Northern up to Foster. Right on Foster to Shoal Creek. Turn around there, and retrace your steps back to Exposition (Foster to Great Northern to White Rock to Shoal Creek to Hancock to Bull Creek to Jackson to 35th to Exposition). Exposition all the way to Lake Austin Blvd, to Mopac. Stay on northside trail back to GZLs HQ.

THE MARATHONS

May 18th (Beach to Bay): Go run a race, why doncha? Run with joy!

June 2nd (San Diego): Taper Madness Week 2. 12-16 miles, with last 6 @ MGP. Start easy, and finish at actual MGP. Start time 5:45am.

June 9th (Tunnel Marathon): 14-18 miles, with last 8 @ MGP. Start easy, and finish at actual MGP. Start time 5:45am.

June 22nd (Grandma's): 12-14 mile recovery long run. Back off from last week. Start time 5:45am.

July 28th (San Francisco): 14-18 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 18 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Sept 15th (Tunnel Light Marathon): 9-12 Miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

BEGINNER GAZELLES, HALF MARATHONERS, and EVERYBODY ELSE:

Beginner Gazelles!  This week, 3-7 miles. Choose a distance amongst your pace pals, up to that 7 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Everybody Else (GZLs peeps): 7-12 miles. If you went 12 last week, maybe cut back to 7-10 this week. For anything else, add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile mark. Start time 5:45am.

May 18th (Brooklyn Half): Go run a race, why doncha? Run with joy!

May 26th (Mountains to Beach Half): 4-8 miles, last 3 at HMGP. Start time 5:45am.

June 29th (Santa Barbara Half): 10-12 Miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Aug 17th (SeaWheeze Half): 6-10 Miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 10 mile max. Start time 5:45am.
