Saturday Long Run - Dawson/5th St./Lollipop/Enfield

As always, if you start way before the scheduled start times, please take water to cover yourselves for that first water stop (or two) in case you're ahead of the logistical team. NEW ROUTES THIS WEEK FEATURE A NEW APPROACH TO BARTON SKYWAY AND THE LOLLIPOP. PLEASE REVIEW YOUR WORKOUT ASSIGNMENT AHEAD OF TIME.

NEW ROUTE NOTES: 1. Watch speed bumps on Dawson/S. 5th, and on Rabb, 2. The pedestrian crosswalk is on the south side of the intersection at Mary and Lamar, 3.The left turn off Rundell Place onto Rabb Rd is at the top of the hill.  The sign is a little hard to see there.  If you go too far, you'll dead end after .10 and have to come back., 4. Watch out for obstacles on Barton Hills Drive.  In addition to the white big bumps separating the bike lane from the road, there are some extraneous pole bases in the middle of the bike lane at a few intersections.  Those are black and not easy to see when it's dark.

3 Miles: Your map is here. Start at HQ. Cross LB Lake on bridge to southside trail. Wiggle left on Riverside, and take crosswalk. Once you cross the zig-zag crosswalk across Riverside Drive, stay on the cement path through the west side of the park, past the little docks out over the pond.  When the fencing starts, there will be a small white "Detour" sign pointing to the crushed granite trail to the right.  Take that a short distance and it pops out in the corner of the parking lot.  Go through the parking lot towards Barton Springs Road and cross Barton springs Road on to Dawson Road.  It will change names to S. 5th Street. S. 5th down to W. Mary St. Turn around at W. Mary, returning S. 5th, crossing to the park, back to Pfluger footbridge, where you will cross back over to HQ.

4 Miles: Your map is here. Start at HQ. Cross LB Lake on bridge to southside trail. Wiggle left on Riverside, and take crosswalk. Once you cross the zig-zag crosswalk across Riverside Drive, stay on the cement path through the west side of the park, past the little docks out over the pond.  When the fencing starts, there will be a small white "Detour" sign pointing to the crushed granite trail to the right.  Take that a short distance and it pops out in the corner of the parking lot.  Go through the parking lot towards Barton Springs Road and cross Barton springs Road on to Dawson Road. It will change names to S. 5th Street. S. 5th down to W. Mary St. Right on W. Mary and across RR tracks, winding to Lamar. Carefully cross Lamar at Mary. It will be Hether St on other side of Lamar. Hether to Bluebonnet Lane. YOU DIVERGE FROM YOUR 5 MILE FRIENDS HERE. Right on Bluebonnet and stay on the main road as it sweeps left, changing names to Melridge Place. Melridge over to another couple of right hand gentle curves to a name change to Azie Morton Road. Azie to the park, left on Barton Hills Drive. Take the running path along the pool, going under Barton Springs Road. Stay on southside trail heading back to Pfluger footbridge, where you will cross over to HQ.

You get to go downhill on Wilke Saturday, taking a right onto Wilke to Barton Hills Drive. Right on Barton Hills Drive to the park, and take the running path along the pool, going under Barton Springs Road. Stay on southside trail heading back to Pfluger footbridge, where you will cross over to HQ.

Stay on southside trail heading back past Pfluger footbridge, to First St. bridge, where you will go up and over and back to northside trail and to HQ.

Stay on northside trail back to HQ.

Turn around at Enfield, and return Expo to LA Blvd, back to Veterans and Mopac. Stay on northside trail back to HQ.

Expo down to LA Blvd, back to Veterans and Mopac. Stay on northside trail back to HQ.

YOU DIVERGE FROM YOUR 16 MILE BRETHREN HERE. LEFT on Expo up to 35th Street, where you will turn around and return down Expo to LA Blvd, back to Veterans and Mopac. Southside trail back to First St. Bridge, where you will cross over one last time and finish to HQ.

YOU DIVERGE FROM YOUR 16 MILE BRETHREN HERE. LEFT on Expo up to 35th Street, where you will turn around and return down Expo to Windsor, right on Windsor to Rockmoor. Left on Rockmoor down to Cherry Lane. Right on Cherry back to LA Blvd, back to Veterans and Mopac. Southside trail back to First St. Bridge, where you will cross over one last time and finish to HQ.

THE MARATHONS

April 27th/28th (Revel/Waco/Big Sur/Eugene/London): Run smart, run with joy, enjoy the massive post-race feasting.

May 5th (Toronto, Vancouver, Avenue of the Giants): Taper Madness Week 3. 8-12 miles, with last 4 @ MGP. Start easy, and finish at actual MGP. Start time 5:45am.

May 18th (Beach to Bay): Taper Madness Begins. 14-18 miles, with last 8 @ MGP. Start easy, and finish at actual MGP. Start time 5:45am.

June 2nd (San Diego): 12-14 mile recovery long run. Back off from last week. Start time 5:45am.

June 9th (Tunnel Marathon): 18-20 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 20 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

June 22nd (Grandma's): 16-20 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 20 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

July 28th (San Francisco): 10-12 mile recovery long run. Back off from last week. Start time 5:45am.

BEGINNER GAZELLES, HALF MARATHONERS, and EVERYBODY ELSE:

Beginner Gazelles!  This week, 3-7 miles. Choose a distance amongst your pace pals, up to that 7 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Everybody Else (GZLs peeps): 7-12 miles. If you went 12 last week, maybe cut back to 7-10 this week. For anything else, add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile mark. Start time 5:45am.

April 28th (Eugene Half Marathon): Run smart, run with joy.

May 5th (Vancouver Half): 4-8 miles, last 3 at HMGP. Start time 5:45am.

May 18th (Brooklyn Half): 8-13 miles, last 5 at HMGP. Start time 5:45am.

May 26th (Mountains to Beach Half): 10-14 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 14 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

June 29th (Santa Barbara Half): 5-8 mile recovery long run. Start time 5:45am.
