Saturday Long Run - Point to Point finishing at RELee/Azie Morton Road across from Umlauf Sculpture Gardens

CARPOOL ALERT AND VENUE ALERT:  Finish for everyone is at Robert E. Lee across from Umlauf sculpture gardens in parking lot by baseball field. Carpools for longest runners (16-24 miles) will leave RELEE/AZIE MORTON ROAD between 5:15 and 5:30am to get up north for a 5:45 first running step. Plan with your pace pals to hitch a ride.

START TIMES:

CARPOOL ALERT: 16-24 milers leaving from RELEE/Azie Morton Road park across from Umlauf Sculpture Gardens at 5:15-5:30am to get up to either Big Lots parking lot (Spicewood Springs @ 183) for 20-24 miles, or Gateway Cinema parking lot (Stonelake) for 16-18 miles.

10-14 milers go out and back from RELEE/ Azie Morton Road park across from Umlauf Sculpture Gardens 5:45am.

5-8 milers and beginners go from RELEE/ Azie Morton Road park across from Umlauf Sculpture Gardens 6:30am.

If you start earlier (or later) than your group's call time, please check with your pace pals to make sure your team is all starting at the same time. As always, if you start way before the scheduled start times, please take water to cover yourselves for that first water stop (or two) in case you're ahead of the logistical team. Longest runners are carpooling to their starting points and are touring a point to point route Shoal Creek to 45th to Duval this weekend, finishing at RELEE/ Azie Morton Road across from Umlauf Sculpture Gardens. Those going 14 miles or less will go out and back from RELEE/ Azie Morton Road at either 5:45 or 6:30am.

7 Miles: Your map is here. Start at RELEE/ Azie Morton Road across from Umlauf Sculpture Gardens. RELEE/ Azie Morton Road across Barton Springs Road to Southside trail. SS trail over to Congress. Loop around and cross LB Lake on Congress bridge. Congress up to Capitol. Through Capitol grounds to Congress on north side of Capitol to MLK. Right on MLK, down to talking oil derrick on UT campus. Turn around there, and retrace your steps all the way back to RELEE/ Azie Morton Road. (MLK back up to Congress, Congress through Capitol, Congress bridge across to southside trail, SS trail back to RELEE/ Azie Morton Road). 

8 Miles: Your map is here. Start at RELEE/ Azie Morton Road across from Umlauf Sculpture Gardens. RELEE/ Azie Morton Road across Barton Springs Road to Southside trail. SS trail over to Congress. Loop around and cross LB Lake on Congress bridge. Congress up to Capitol. Through Capitol grounds to Congress on north side of Capitol to MLK. Right on MLK, enter UT at San Jacinto. Through UT campus to the street that enters on your left at the School of Fine Arts building (there's a big statue on your right at that intersection). Turn around there, and retrace your steps all the way back to RELEE/ Azie Morton Road. (San Jacinto, through UT, veer over to MLK, up to Congress, Congress through Capitol, Congress bridge across to southside trail, SS trail back to RELEE/ Azie Morton Road). 

10 Miles: Your map is here. Start at RELEE/ Azie Morton Road across from Umlauf Sculpture Gardens. RELEE/ Azie Morton Road across Barton Springs Road to Southside trail. SS trail over to Congress. Loop around and cross LB Lake on Congress bridge. Congress up to Capitol. Through Capitol grounds to Congress on north side of Capitol to MLK. Right on MLK, enter UT at San Jacinto. Through UT campus on San Jacinto, cross Dean Keaton and then veer right onto Duval. Duval up to 38th. Turn around there, and retrace your steps all the way back to RELEE/Azie Morton Road. (Duval back down to San Jacinto, through UT, veer over to MLK, up to Congress, Congress through Capitol, Congress bridge across to southside trail, SS trail back to RELEE/ Azie Morton Road). 

12 Miles: Your map is here. Start at RELEE/ Azie Morton Road across from Umlauf Sculpture Gardens. RELEE/ Azie Morton Road across Barton Springs Road to Southside trail. SS trail over to Congress. Loop around and cross LB Lake on Congress bridge. Congress up to Capitol. Through Capitol grounds to Congress on north side of Capitol to MLK. Right on MLK, enter UT at San Jacinto. Through UT campus on San Jacinto, cross Dean Keaton and then veer right onto Duval. Duval up to 47th. That's a couple of blocks north of the water stop at 45th. Left on 47th over to Avenue F. Left on Avenue F down to 45th. Left on 45th back to Duval.  From there, retrace your steps all the way back to RELEE/ Azie Morton Road. (Duval back down to San Jacinto, through UT, veer over to MLK, up to Congress, Congress through Capitol, Congress bridge across to southside trail, SS trail back to RELEE/ Azie Morton Road).

16 Miles: Your map is here. You start up at the Gateway Cinema parking lot. From there, Stonelake up to Braker. Right on Braker across Mopac, to Burnett. Right on Burnet down to Longhorn Blvd., the industrial park on your right. Right on Longhorn to Business Drive, which is the second left hand turn. Left on Business over to Industrial Terrace. Left on Industrial Terrace up to United, where you'll go right. United to the access road at 183. Right on the access road to and under 183, looping to the south of 183, then access to Shoal Creek. Right on Shoal Creek down all the way to Foster. Right on Foster over to Great Northern. Left on Great Northern down to White Rock. Left on White Rock to Shoal Creek. Right down Shoal Creek to 45th. Left on 45th across town to Duval. Right on Duval down to merge with San Jacinto. San Jac to and through UT campus. At bottom campus, veer right at talking oil derrick to MLK, and take a right on MLK up to Congress (Bob Bullock Museum). Left on Congress, to and through Capitol grounds to Congress on south side. Congress down to Cesar Chavez, crossing LB Lake on Congress bridge to Southside trail. Southside trail over to and under Barton Springs Road to RELEE/ Azie Morton Road park.

At bottom campus, veer right at talking oil derrick to MLK, and take a right on MLK up to Congress (Bob Bullock Museum). Left on Congress, to and through Capitol grounds to Congress on south side. Congress down to Cesar Chavez. Enter northside trail at Congress and Cesar Chavez, and take Northside trail over to Mopac. Cross LB Lake at Mopac, and return to RELee/Azie Morton Road via southside trail. Southside trail over footbridge at Barton Creek, and then right on trail under Barton Springs Road to RELEE/ Azie Morton Road park. At the park, continue on the trail to the south parking lot near the entrance to the pool. Cut through the parking lot, and make a loop back to the parking finish area.

Southside trail over footbridge at Barton Creek, and then right on trail under Barton Springs Road to RELEE/ Azie Morton Road park. At the park, continue on the trail to the south parking lot near the entrance to the pool. Cut through the parking lot, and make a loop back to the parking finish area.

August 19th (Tunnel Vision): Taper madness week 3. 8-12 miles, with last 4 @ MGP. Start time 5:45am, from RELEE/ Azie Morton Road.

September 8th (Patagonia): 20-24 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 24 mile max.  Carpool up to Big Lots (Spicewood Springs @ 183) leaving RELEE/ Azie Morton Road 5:15-5:30am.

September 16th (Berlin): 10-14 mile recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am, from RELEE/ Azie Morton Road.

September 23rd (Buenos Aires): 18-22 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 22 mile max.  CARPOOL up to Gateway Cinema parking lot leaving RELEE/ Azie Morton Road 5:15-5:30am

September 30th (Portland (ME), Wineglass): 10-14 mile recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am, from RELEE/ Azie Morton Road.

October 6th, 7th (St. George, Chicago): 16-20 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 20 mile max. CARPOOL up to Gateway Cinema parking lot leaving RELEE/ Azie Morton Road 5:15-5:30am.

October 20th (Brooklyn): 14-18 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 18 mile max.  CARPOOL up to Gateway Cinema parking lot leaving RELEE/ Azie Morton Road 5:15-5:30am

October 27th, 28th (M2M, Marine Corps): 10-14 mile recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am, from RELEE/ Azie Morton Road.

Nov 4th (NYC): 12-16 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 16 mile max. Start time 5:45am, from RELEE/ Azie Morton Road, for 12-14 miles. If you want 16 miles point to point, then carpool up to Gateway Cinema parking lot leaving RELEE/ Azie Morton Road 5:15-5:30am.

Beginner Gazelles!  This week, 3-7 miles. Choose a distance amongst your pace pals, up to that 7 mile max. Start time 6:30am.

Everybody Else (GZLs peeps): 7-12 miles. If you went 12 last week, maybe cut back to 7-10 this week. For anything else, add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile mark. Start time 5:45am.
