Saturday Long Run

START TIMES:

10-24 milers leaving Gazelles HQ at 5:45am.

Beginners and 5-8 milers go from Gazelles HQ 6:30am

Physical therapists in the house Saturday. Take advantage of this free service if you have a nagging pain or tightness in your legs.

THE MAPS

If you start earlier (or later) than your group's call time, please check with your pace pals to make sure your team is all starting at the same time. As always, if you start way before the scheduled start times, please take water to cover yourselves for that first water stop (or two) in case you're ahead of the logistical team. We're touring the LB Lake trail loop plus additional stuff as needed for the very long runners.

3 Miles: Your map is here. This is a clockwise Pfluger footbridge to Mopac trail loop.

4 Miles: Your map is here. This is a clockwise First St. bridge to Mopac trail loop.

5 Miles: Your map is here. Congress to Mopac trail loop. GZLs HQ to north side trail, east out to Congress. Cross up and over LB Lake on Congress bridge to southside trail. Trail back to Mopac, cross back to northside trail, and back to GZLs HQ.

7 Miles: Your map is here. I-35 to Mopac trail loop. GZLs HQ to north side trail, east out to I-35. Under I-35 to ramp. Up and over LB Lake on eastside footbridge along I-35 to southside trail and boardwalk. Trail and boardwalk back to Mopac, to north side trail, and back to GZLs HQ.

8 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ to north side trail, east out to Longhorn Dam. Cross to southside of dam, to southside trail and boardwalk back to Pfluger bridge. Cross over LB Lake at Pfluger bridge, and exit to north side trail. Take trail towards Mopac, and exit trail at metal A frame bathroom sculptures, crossing under Cesar Chavez on trail path to north side of Cesar Chavez and bike path. Take bike path back to GZLs HQ.

10 Miles: Your map is here. Longhorn Dam to Mopac trail loop. GZLs HQ to north side trail, east out to Longhorn Dam. Cross to southside of dam, to southside trail and boardwalk back to Mopac, up and across to north side trail and back to GZLs HQ.

12 Miles: Your map is here. Longhorn Dam to Mopac trail loop plus an out-and-back on LA Blvd. GZLs HQ to north side trail, east out to Longhorn Dam. Cross to southside of dam, to southside trail and boardwalk back to Mopac, up and across to Veterans to Lake Austin Blvd. LA Blvd out to Exposition. Right on Expo up to south end of O. Henry middle school. Turn around at O. Henry, and return down to LA Blvd, and then back to Mopac, north side trail and back to GZLs HQ.

14 Miles: Your map is here. Longhorn Dam to Mopac trail loop plus Enfield Triangle. GZLs HQ to north side trail, east out to Longhorn Dam. Cross to southside of dam, to southside trail and boardwalk back to Mopac, up and across to Veterans to Lake Austin Blvd. LA Blvd out to Enfield (Mozart's), right on Enfield to Exposition. Right on Expo down to LA Blvd, and then back to Mopac, north side trail and back to GZLs HQ.

16 Miles: Your map is here. Longhorn Dam to Mopac trail loop plus Enfield Triangle. GZLs HQ to north side trail, east out to Longhorn Dam. Cross to southside of dam, to southside trail and boardwalk back to Mopac, up and across to Veterans to Lake Austin Blvd. LA Blvd out to Enfield (Mozart's), right on Enfield to Exposition. Right on Expo down to LA Blvd, and then back to Mopac. From Mopac, cross to southside trail, over to First St. bridge, back to north side trail and back to GZLs HQ.

18 Miles: Your map is here. Longhorn Dam to Mopac trail loop plus Enfield Triangle. GZLs HQ to north side trail, east out to Longhorn Dam. Cross to southside of dam, to southside trail and boardwalk back to Mopac, up and across to Veterans to Lake Austin Blvd. LA Blvd out to Enfield (Mozart's), right on Enfield to Exposition. Left up Expo to Mountain Laurel, which is two streets past Casis Elementary. Turn around there, and come back down Expo to Enfield. Right on Enfield back out to LA Blvd, and then back to Mopac. From Mopac, north side trail and back to GZLs HQ.

20.4 Miles: Your map is here. Longhorn Dam to Mopac trail loop plus Enfield Triangle. GZLs HQ to north side trail, east out to Longhorn Dam. Cross to southside of dam, to southside trail and boardwalk back to Mopac, up and across to Veterans to Lake Austin Blvd. LA Blvd out to Enfield (Mozart's), right on Enfield to Exposition. Left up Expo to 35th. Turn around at 35th, and come back down Expo to Enfield. Right on Enfield back out to LA Blvd, and then back to Mopac. From Mopac, cross to southside trail, over to First St. bridge, back to north side trail and back to GZLs HQ.

21.6 Miles: Your map is here. Longhorn Dam to Mopac trail loop plus Enfield Triangle. GZLs HQ to north side trail, east out to Longhorn Dam. Cross to southside of dam, to southside trail and boardwalk back to Mopac, up and across to Veterans to Lake Austin Blvd. LA Blvd out to Enfield (Mozart's), right on Enfield to Exposition. Left up Expo to 35th. Turn around at 35th, and come back down Expo to Enfield. Right on Enfield back out to LA Blvd, and then back to Mopac. From Mopac, cross to southside trail, over to Congress bridge, back to north side trail. Continue past the Pfluger bridge and veer off north side trail at the A frame bathrooms, cutting under Cesar Chavez to bike trail on north side of street. From there, back to GZLs HQ. Completists know how to find an extra 0.4 miles.

THE MARATHONS:

August 26th -27th (Wausau/Santa Rosa): Taper madness, week 3. 10-12 miles, last 4 @ MGP. Start time 5:45am from GZLs HQ.

Sept. 10th (Erie): Taper madness begins. 16-18 miles, last 8 @ MGP. Start time 5:45am from GZLs HQ.

Sept. 16th (Light At The End Of the Tunnel): 20-24 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 24 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Sept 24th (Berlin): 12-14 mile recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am.

Oct 1st (Twin Cities/Wineglass/Maine): 18-22 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 22 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Oct 7th/8th (Chicago/St. George/Portland): 10-14 mile recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am.

Oct. 15th (Columbus): 16-20 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 22 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Oct 21st/22nd (M2M, MCM, Baltimore, Toronto): 10-14 mile recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am.

Nov. 5th (NYC): 10-14 mile recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am.

Nov. 18th (Philly): 10-12 mile recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am.

Dec 3rd (CIM, San Antonio): 10-12 mile recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am.

Dec. 10th (Dallas, BCS, Honolulu): 10-14 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 14 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

BEGINNER GAZELLES, HALF MARATHONERS, and EVERYBODY ELSE:

Beginner Gazelles! This week, 3-7 miles. Choose a distance amongst your pace pals, up to that 7 mile max. Start time 6:30am.

Everybody Else (GZLs peeps): 7-12 miles. If you went 12 last week, maybe cut back to 7-10 this week. For anything else, add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile mark. Start time 5:45am.

Oct. 1st (Wineglass Half): 11-15 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 15 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Oct. 8th (Portland Half): 5-8 mile recovery run. Start time 6:30am.

Oct. 29th (Houston Half): 10-14 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 14 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Nov. 12th (Las Vegas, S. Padre, FW Half): 10-12 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Nov. 18th (Philly Half): 5-8 mile recovery run. Start time 6:30am.

Dec. 3rd (CIM Relay, San Antone Half): 5-8 mile recovery run. Start time 6:30am.

Dec. 10th (Dallas, BCS Halfs): 5-8 mile recovery run. Start time 6:30am.
