The Trail Foundation is seeking your inputJan 16, 2014
As you likely realize, after the public-private partnership Boardwalk Trail Completion project is opened this summer, the eastside of the Butler Trail will transform because it will become so much more used. The southeast Trail area immediately past the eastern end of the Boardwalk and on around to Longhorn Dam is beautiful though the Trail and parklands along there have some needs. The Trail Foundation (TTF) is currently engaged in the Southeast Shore Master Plan in collaboration with the Austin Parks & Recreation Department. Once the master plan is finished, it will enable TTF better to focus our private projects and also allow the City to commit public funds in the future.
In order to have this plan adopted by Council, it is important that we have good public participation. We are doing a number of things to get input including our online survey, a public meeting on January 29, and this Saturday's on-Trail input hours.
1) This Saturday we will have two on-Trail locations where we will have maps so Tail users can easily and directly mark their comments when they are out at the Trail. We will also have little cards that give them the online survey link. This on-Trail user outreach is akin to how we took our February Trail Memory Board out to the Trail users where we know they are, at the Trail. (We don't expect everyone to go to a public meeting on a weeknight when people are busy with other things.)
This Saturday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., there will be an eastside Trail location under I-35 and a westside location under MoPac at the Johnson Creek Trailhead from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
2) Fill out a survey: www.TrailSurvey.com; Also, share the survey using the link www.TrailSurvey.com with your Trail friend networks via FB or email or however you would like.
3) Attend the Wednesday, January 29 public meeting at Fiesta Gardens on the eastside.
